Hi everyone I do hope that everyone is safe. I have a question since our surgery has closed it’s doors and the only way to get a repeat prescription is by telephone online or send an email requesting your medication. Has anyone emailed to get medication. I have a strong feeling that the phone is going to be continually engaged. I myself use online. The rest of the family do not.
Repeat prescriptions : Hi everyone I do... - British Heart Fou...
Repeat prescriptions
Do you get confirmation that they have received it was thinking if I emailed and it didn’t get to them
Tinker2015 which pharmacy are you with? I registered with Kamsons which are my pharmacy with my doctors and get a confirmation email from them then generally get medication a few days after. It has been a little longer with what's going on atm.
We have a patient access system online for prescription and appointments works great. Not sure if this is only available in Scotland 🏴
I order on line
But GPs are open and phone lines are being maned however thay are trying to not see anyone face to face for appointments .
Hi, I normally order online on patient access but surgery will only accept request 3 days in advance, any earlier and the request is chucked out but you don’t know until you try to collect it but there was something wrong with the site last week. Telephoned the surgery, told to contact the chemist.
Took request into chemists last Monday, told it would be ready Thursday. Phoned Thursday only some of the prescription acceptance had been sent through from the surgery. Contacted surgery they say it will be sent same day. Checked Friday morning, nothing had been sent. It took 4 phone calls to the surgery, they promised to phone me back but didn’t, eventually got the prescription sent to the chemist 20mins before they shut. Had massive migraine and had to use spray.
Collected prescription myself even though classed as very high risk, only to find that it was 2 items short. This has little to do with the current situation as this has been going on every month for at least six months. Even to the extent of now having to check the bag at the chemists counter as virtually every time there are items not requested, if you return them there and then they can reuse them but if you walk away from the counter they have to be thrown away, a waste of NHS money.
Cardiac Consultant suggested I changed surgery but the only other one in this area have closed their books. Dread having to try and get repeat prescription next month.
Thinking of all on this site, keep safe.
I’ve found a fab independent chemist, with an online ordering system. I order from chemist, then chemist asks surgery for approval, & if approved, fills script & emails me that it’s ready.
Ordering through them is better than asking Gp surgery because (1) if surgery doesn’t get round to approving, the chemist chases it up on my behalf (2) chemist system lets me put in reminders (3) chemist will email if no stock available etc, so no wasted trips (but this independent has thankfully not struggled to stock yet, unlike Boots).
Only difficult area is where something is not officially on “repeat”. Eg my HRT is “ongoing” but doc wants to see me every so often, so doesn’t immediately authorise.
Sounds like mine but no longer taking phone calls for scrips. E mails only. What are they doing? Not everybody has access to e mails (obviously we have). Our GP'S need to open their doors and make themselves available.
