Would like to check with anyone out there in the know

I am classified as at higher risk due to Heart desiese and should isolate

My question is , can I play golf if I avoid the club house, changing rooms etc

It’s walking and fresh air and will be playing with max 3 others at safe distance

Any expert or opinion appreciated as ever from the group

Hi Tinodog

Here's the NHS advice on mental wellbeing when you're social distancing. I think the final sentence covers your question - you'll be walking basically but stopping periodically to hit a ball. 😊

How do you look after your mental wellbeing?

Understandably, you may find that social distancing can be boring or frustrating. You may find your mood and feelings are affected and you may feel low, worried or have problems sleeping and you might miss being outside with other people.

At times like these, it can be easy to fall into unhealthy patterns of behaviour which in turn can make you feel worse. There are simple things you can do that may help, to stay mentally and physically active during this time such as:

look for ideas of exercises you can do at home on the NHS website

spend time doing things you enjoy – this might include reading, cooking, other indoor hobbies or listening to the radio or watching TV programmes

try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, drink enough water, exercise regularly, and try to avoid smoking, alcohol and drugs

keep your windows open to let in fresh air, get some natural sunlight if you can, or get outside into the garden

You can also go for a walk outdoors if you stay more than 2 metres from others.

Yes you can. My local club (where I am a member) is open but has a lot of signage up telling people to go straight to wash their hands, contactless payments etc. Essentially everything that you'd expect. Other clubs in the area are putting similar arrangements in place. At the moment all are open for business. The only thing likely to stop you at this stage is the weather and even that looks set fair for the weekend. Enjoy your round(s)

I’m in same boat - although I haven’t played yet this week, it’s a lot safer than food shopping. Keep flags in, pay over the phone if you can and keep 6ft away. Drive on your own and don’t go in the clubhouse. I’m planing to play tomorrow evening.

I am an avid golfer and play as much as I can 4/5 days a week. My club are following advice given to all members of the public. Regardless of age exercise as you normally would. Just be sensible when socialising in your clubhouse. Remember as hearties we all need to keep active but always safe. Enjoy your golfing as much as you can. I will 🏌️‍♂️😃

I would think it quite safe out in the open. Just don't touch your partners balls :-)

Yes, I think you should just take care of yourself more properly. I heard that regularly golfing, at least once per month, was found to lower the risk of death among older adults. While the protective effects of playing golf have not been linked to the reduction of heart attack and stroke risk, researchers note the positive effects of exercise and social interaction for older adults unable to participate in more strenuous exercise. I think you can remain safe without worrying because golf can’t damage your heart health on the contrary it makes it stronger.
