I’ve just turned 33 and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy back in January 2021.
My most recent echo in May showed my EF at 48% which is really encouraging but due to a myriad of factors I stopped taking my medication in April this year (my cardiologist and GP are aware).
For the last week and a half I’ve been getting sharp stabbing pains randomly that last anywhere from a few seconds up to 30 seconds and also a heavy feeling across my chest and upper back. Last night it happened as I got into bed and I could feel a tight pressure in my neck and jaw also. I tried contacting my consultant earlier in the week but he no longer has a designated secretary and so far I’ve not heard back although I appreciate it’s currently the weekend.
What I would like to know is, has anyone else experienced this and it’s been something easily resolved or should I be concerned here?
Many thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply 🙂💛

With your history I would have thought that if you're getting any pains in your chest and back you should be presenting yourself at the A&E department . Please go and get yourself checked out for peace of mind.
Thank you for your reply; I guess I’m worried about wasting peoples time and also I don’t feel greatly unwell with it, just concerned by the symptoms a little.
I think I’ll give 111 a call just so I don’t unnecessarily bother people, I really appreciate your response, thank you very much!
What you experienced could be heart attack warning signs.
Also, if you have been diagnosed with essentially heart failure you should be attending at least yearly checks to keep an eye on how it is progressing.
Changes with the heart are sometimes slow and you don’t realise how bad your heart is struggling until it is too late.
You need to get this checked out. Have you contacted your GP? Certainly call 111 if you don't want to visit A&E - which can be difficult at the moment!
Go and get checked out at AE with your history, and for your own peace of mind. Stress and anxiety can cause symptoms, and is important to help eleviate these by getting checked to help peace if kind.
Dont be afraid of wasting peoples time, one of my own faults resulting to me ending up in CCU.
Look after yourself and try to rekax and enjoy yourself
Just an update to say thank you to all who answered me. I contacted 111 and spoke with an out of hours nurse who has advised me to call my GP first thing and request an urgent review and await further advice but she wasn’t concerned about my symptoms at present and wondered if I’ve overdone things recently but thinks it best I seek emergency review by a GP tomorrow.
Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to offer advice/support, I’m still having the intermittent symptoms but I feel more reassured now. Sending best wishes to all 🙂
