evening. just saw that all visiting had been stopped at lanarkshire hospitals. they reduced it to an hour twice a day last week but they’ve now stopped it all together. i really feel for all the patients in hospital at the moment. how can you get your jammies etc washed. nightmare or what. i totally understand the thoughts behind it but the days must be soooo longgg. ❤️

Hi Shoshov

Stopped! That's a bit harsh, as you say the day must drag.

Just had a look at my local hospital and they've got restrictions:-

1 visitor per day for max 2 hrs between 4-7pm, no children under 12, and HDU wards allowed no visitors

Ours is one visitor between 16:00 and 18:30 with no children allowed. In certain cases the nurse-in-charge may say no visitors allowed. During end-of life care the rules may be relaxed.

Tayside is limiting visiting hours to one hour twice daily, no children, maximum two visitors per patient - but the request is people try to stay away if possible. The new hours and restrictions were posted 14 March and I have to say I feel certain there will be a no visitors policy soon.

I would come under Tayside as well if I end up in hospital I must admit I would be the odd one out and love the no visitors thing. Just can't be bothered when I am in hospital

Must be terrible for the patients to be ill in hospital and not be able to see family friends

It’s gone back to the visiting hours of many years ago, before open visiting was introduced!

Bolton Royal hospital has stopped all visits unless specific permission is granted. Same at my mothers care home, sensible really as no matter how careful they are somone will take the virus in without knowing.

Tbh, if your visitor/s have CV19 and are unaware that they have it, it doesn’t matter whether they visit for 2 seconds or 2 hours, the risk is there that it could spread around the hospital and that could be catastrophic.

I completely agree with that decision although they should allow family to deliver and collect clean clothes and essentials. I know when I had a heart attack, I had terribly ill fitting dentures. They literally fell out unless I used Polygrip or something. Hospital shop didn't sell it; nearby petrol station didn't sell it. I spent a full day unable toe at until husband could bring some. ( and needed knickers- those hospital paper ones are foul). Apart from that I would have welcomed a bit of quiet from screaming kids and beds with 12 visitors.

What a difference 23 hours can make (from my comment 'up river').

Tayside has now stopped nearly all visitors to Tayside in-patients (two exceptions - 'end of life' visits and partners of patients in childbirth). Routine appointments likewise ended, letters to come to all with appointments regarding when/if rebooking.
