Hi, I am new to this site but wondered if anyone else is struggling with medications. I had a HA in April 2019 2 stents and been taking Aspirin, ramipril 5mg , eleperone 25mg, prasugrel 10mg, Bisoprolol 5mg and statins daily ever since. I have had my statin changed 4 times due to feeling nauseous, headache and generally unwell ever since. I currently take Rosuvastatin 20mg the symptoms are still the same. I am waiting for a stress echo as also have had chest pains since the HA which the docs say is Costochondritis. surely nearly a year on I should not still feel like this . The symptoms seem to get worse as the day goes on .

Medication worries
Hi
Since my HA and CABG about 5 months ago I have had several episodes of chest pain - eg in the last few days - which seem to be inexplicable but nonetheless worrying. I have followed all the rules, made lifestyle/diet changes and stuck to a rigorous rehab programme etc so had thought I should be seeing good progress in a linear fashion. What I have discovered are that there are kinks in the road esp with chest pain that have left me baffled and the medics too after blood tests/ECGs prove OK. So like you I’m told it’s the nerves healing, maybe chostocondritis, overdoing the rehab or possibly the meds. Truth is
I have never really felt I know what causes it. My view is to just keep at it. If your gut tells you it’s the meds see if your GP can make further changes, have tests etc.
I have come to realise that this is a much more complex illness than it may appear. What I would say though is after nearly a year the pain should have markedly dissipated.
Thank you, yes like you I have attended the rehab program and eager to continue on my own at the gym but feel I can’t due to the continuous chest pains and discomfort. I am hoping the stress echo will to diagnose or if it is Costochondritis then some extra pain relief will help. Like you say it’s much more complex and a long road to feeling better .

Hi I had 2 stents 7 years ago and was put on a load of meds after . After I had after affects as in Chest pain . Painful heart beats . Tight chest . Unable to get my breath . No energy. Tunnel vision. Etc . So since then I have been in hospital loads of times with these symptoms. And had my meds changed lots of times . I had an angyo beginning of Jan and was put on double dose of nicorandil I felt good for a while then painful hearts beats started 2 or 3 together then it increased to 5 to 15 up to 20 times an hour. And my AF got dramatically worse . So back in hospital via GP. Since then I have come off most of my meds my blood pressure is back to normal but feel so much better with energy and my Af has almost gone. I can think clearer . So maybe the meds where to blame . I only take a minimal dose of meds now BUT I have done this with my new GP and with the help of health care professionals. I hope this helps
Had 1 stent fitted after 4 MIs. Months after the stent had settled and I'd been for cardiac rehab, I started getting random pains in my chest area. First stop was always A&E, and results always came back negative: not an MI, and the heart was still going strong.
It was only after I lost 10kg in body weight over a 3 month period that my GP decided to try something different (I had a seriously upset stomach for ages, and swapped a lot of medications). Turns out all the pills had burnt holes into my stomach, and I was diagnosed with erosive gastritis and erosive duodenitis.
We're all on a lot of pills, and a large portion of the stomach resides in the chest cavity, so may be worth having a chat to your GP about getting referred to a gastroenterologist.
Thank you, I have had an endoscopy and diagnosed with mild Gastritis and duoenditis. I take 30mg of Lansoperazole twice a day but maybe it’s not working .
In addition to the lansoprazole I started taking slippery elm capsules twice a day, which seem to have helped way more - I previously had to take gaviscon before bed or I wouldn't fall asleep because of the discomfort. Also, as it's natural, it's one less pill I need to put into my body. Another alternative is marshmallow root. Both help to line your GI tract.
