I have had a TIA where I had tingling in my right arm and leg twice in the space of 2 hours , I went to the hospital and was told that my scan and other tests are all clearand I have been told that I have not had a stoke just a stroke like symtom so I am very lucky . I should also mention that I am 48 on the diabetic HBA!c , The consultant put me on asprin for a week and now on clopidogrel as a replacement plus I have to take statins for 6 months, He sugggeted that I may need to take clopidogrel forever.

Since the incident whilst on asprin I felt tired and my right leg still tingling , same after taking clopidogrel for the first day.

I am concerned about the side effects of the clopidogrel particulary the bleeding , although I havent had any side effects and am not sure if the tingling or tiredness is a side effect, and having to take it forever. Does anyone have any advise?

Apologies to the many peple on here who have much more serious probems than myself if I appear to be wasting everyones time .

Hi sorry that you have had a TIA.

Without wanting to alarm you a TIA is a big deal and a warning sign of possible risk of stroke. The risk does reduce with treatment and as time goes on.

I had a TIA nearly 2 years ago at 47 I am on clopidogrel and statins for life now.

I would take this as an opportunity to really look at what things you can do to promote healthy lifestyle and any concerns with medications talk to your GP.

You are right there is a risk of bleeding with clopidogrel but equally huge risk of stroke with possible disability without it.

I know I felt tired for few weeks after mine and even now if I get overtired I feel as though my speech not as good as usual it was this that was my biggest symptom.

Have they investigated you thoroughly as to why you may have had the TIA in first place as this also really important to check for arrhythmias atrial fibrillation etc..

Good luck with things

Take care

Hi , thankyou for taking the time to reply to my post. I have had some scans and am awiting some more tests , At present there is no evidence as to what caused it , I dont smoke , rarly drink , not at all now and take regular excerise . I am slim , and am now eating healthily so cannot see what has caused this . I think you are right though that i need to find out what it was . The consultant cant see anything at present .

Depending how long after symptoms you have your scan - they do not always show up TIAs

Tiredness can be side effect of clopidogrel: drugs.com/sfx/clopidogrel-s...

I had stents after first small HA 3 years ago and took clopidogrel alongside aspirin seem to remember being tired, also bruised easily.

I currently take aspirin only-low dose- won't know if tiredness is a long term effect as only 3 months post bypass op which is reason enough to be tired.

Also remember anxiety itself can make you tired.

I take clopidogrel for life and aspirin. When I cut I bleed and it takes longer to stop. But it's not out of control.

Only side effect for me to clopidogrel was bruising. I would guess what you are feeling is he after effects of your TIA. They do need to find out what caused it.
