Anyone had side effect of blood in urine (or nose bleeds) whilst on Clopidogrel and Asprin?

Having to attend urology for cystoscopy as precaution against something more sinister - hoping it’s the med’s this time!

I'm on anti-coagulant (Apixaban) and have noticed I'm getting more nosebleeds that take longer than usual to stop.

In 1992 I was twice in hospital after passing black urine

I was told that I had cancer of the bladder and had to keep going back for cystoscopies

The consultant urologist later told me that the biopsy showed that I did not have cancer and in vain I told him that I thought the bleeding was in the stomach and not the bladder and was caused by aspirin as I had been addicted to Beecham Powders a mix of caffeine and aspirin

I stopped taking the Beechams and the bleeding stopped and has never come back

I was then in dispute with the consultant over the necessity to keep going in for cystoscopies and in the end I simply stopped going

My hospital record still shows "carcinoma"

Most Cardiologist have stopped prescribing aspirin because research has shown it causes internal bleeding. It has taken a long time for them to figure that out! It was the standard for docs to prescribe to thin the blood and prevent HA and Strokes. Our Cardio Doc said the only reason to take aspirin is if you have a history of colon cancer in your immediate family. Otherwise chuck the aspirin.

Also OTC relievers like Motrin and Aleve can affect the kidneys. Always use Tylenol which doesn’t do the harm that other pain relief meds can do to the kidneys.
