clopidogrel

Hi

I am due to stop taking clopidogrel in the next 4 weeks. I feel like it’s been my protector along with aspirin the past year, which I know sounds a bit daft but I was wondering are there any side effects from withdrawing off it?

Hello, Welshie. I was on Clopidogrel for a year after the CABG Op, but I had no ill effects from coming off it.

I was due to come off Clopidogrel after 12 months taking along with aspirin.

I did ask if I could stay on both, they decided to take me off aspirin and stay on clopidogrel as the risk of bleeding increase with age(74).

Having read a very recent report that states that the risk of bleeding is outweighed by the benefits of blood thinners.I wonder if this protocol will change?

Maybe ask your cardiologist the same question?

Best wishes.

P.s. Major HA last January.

Some cardiologists feel clopidogrel is more beneficial than aspirin and will do what your doctor has done .

My cardiologist recommended I stay on aspirin life long after the year.

I was on Clopidogrel for 6 months. When the time came to stop I noticed no side effects at all.

I was on it for 12 months then took off it and the best part is no more silly bruises! No other effects whatsoever.

hi there… I am due to come off of clopidogrel at the end of March and I’m a little bit nervous. I feel like I have good protection with both and worry about what could happen once the clopidogrel is discontinued. I feel it’s like a little security blanket.

Yes same, end of March for me. It seems silly doesn’t it to worry about coming off a pill but I just feel more relaxed having double the dose 😏

guys. I am glad to read everyone's response that they had no side effects. This is the exact question I have when I come off of Tricagrelor in 8 months.

I had no side effects when I stopped. Still taking Aspirin, Atorvastatin and Ramipril and feel fine.

Good luck x
