Just got back from seeing the nurse for a review. Why is it every time I get through their doors it starts heart beating too fast. When she took my blood pressure was really high. 170/98 that’s way high for me usually I was borderline 5 years ago so I think I need something got to go back next week to have it checked if it’s still high then meds but that bothers me as I am so sensitive to meds. My peak flow test is lower than last year I do hVe asthma but not bad asthma. Got to use my brown inhaler too. On top of this got a leaking roof due to the recent storm that’s causing stress as it is.

Hi Tinker2015

One possible reason could be white coat hypertension or white coat syndrome, see link below. It's something a lot of people suffer from. When I went to have an ICD fitted last August my first BP reading was 150/90 - once I'd settled down it was back to my normal range of 110/75

Hi. Why not keep a diary/record of your BP and what you’re doing at the time to take in for your next check up/review and also use that opportunity to see how far off your machine is by taking it in?

I don’t own a blood pressure machine well tell a lie we do but not sure if it’s working but to tell you the truth the thought of doing it freaks me out I am terrible.

There’s lots of people who do own one. Maybe they’ll be able to give you a boost?

Hi

I own one and it reassures me l is ok ,when I am suffering a bit of anxiety I just do it and know all is ok.

Even take my own reading to GP due to white coat syndrome .

If you are unsure if its working ok. just pop into chemist that do monitoring and ask them to test it for you

Hi Tinker2015 I have a blood pressure monitor and use it on a regular basis. Once you get use to it you would be fine. Keeping an eye on what my blood pressure is doing I now find it reassuring.

My husband a bit like you white coat syndrome but I take his and keep a record so the nurse at our GP practice can see what it’s like at home. Need to watch his blood pressure he as had a stroke. Mine is AVR and bypass so again need to watch mine.

Sorry about your roof that’s adding to your stress and won’t help your blood pressure.

Just remember when you take your pressure sit feet together and take some deep breaths.

Wishing you all the best.
