One year since ablation and suffering

Hi everyone. Can anyone give advice or has anyone been through similar?

I had a catheter ablation last February for SVT (my heart rate would go up to 200/220 BPM and I had to be admitted to A&E each time). The procedure was apparently tricky as I went into heart block and the surgeon said that he nearly had to fit a pacemaker. I think I must have a large amount of scar tissue or something because it took me a month to recover to the point where I felt able to work again (I'm a teacher).

Since then, I've been getting heart pains and dizziness when I get a cold or when I generally feel under the weather. It's awful - I feel entirely sapped of energy, can't really function and need to sleep for hours at a time. I get breathless and find it hard to speak. At other times, I'm fit and healthy and love exercising.

I haven't had raised heart rate, which is good, but something clearly isn't right.

I'm only 33 and have a 2 year old son to look after as well as a demanding job. I'm getting frustrated as I just want a 'normal' life!

Hi, sorry to hear you are having a rough time. I’m a similar age (38) and 3 weeks post op from an ablation, I’m still in recovery so cannot comment, however I highly recommend you re-post your concerns in the AF Association group: healthunlocked.com/afassoci... which has been massively helpful to me and has lots of people with ablation experience.
