Hi all,
particularly those who have been following my write up, I hope its been of some use to you. This will be penultimate post on my surgery and recovery, with the last one being after my six week check (will be 7 1/2 weeks by the time I have it).
Week five has been somewhat of a turning point. I am not saying I haven't been getting better for the other four weeks, but over week five I have shown a marked improvement. I still get tired easily and lifting thing are still a no no, but overall I 'feel' better everyday. I am now only on painkillers at bed time to help me sleep. I have also dropped the sleeping tablets (that has been a mixed blessing, but they had to go). I have even made it into work for a few hours and found it really worthwhile.
I had a GP appointment this week also and was very pleased to hear that, she too, thought I was looking much better. I got some blood tests back which were mainly positive, only my haemoglobin levels being lower than they should be. Multivitamin and Iron tablets here I come.
For anyone who is having open heart surgery of any sort, it is scary, you will get worried, there will be times when you think 'what have I done?' I too still have all of those feelings to some degree, however, I can now see there is light at the end of the tunnel, a dim one, but it is there nonetheless. Good luck to you all and may you have a speedy recovery.
