My husband this weekend has stopped Perinodpril and on Tuesday started Entresto at a low starter dose, Next Tuesday he is going into Basingstoke heart unit to have a Defib fitted
Is there anything that i need to watch out for? Side effects? or when things are going wrong?
The paper work says that he could be sent home the same day that the Defib is fitted, But to be honest we are both so worried we would be grateful if they kept him in over night.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and i would be grateful of any advice

Good morning Mitchell 48. Most people have the defib fitted and go home the same day. It's a relatively simple procedure & usually only takes about an hr. Your husband will probably be awake whilst it's being fitted and will be able to watch the procedure on a monitor. If there are any concerns they will keep your husband in overnight just for monitoring, they did my husband due to his cardiac history, so if they don't keep him in then that's because they're not concerned. If you haven't already been told the do's & don'ts whilst your husband's scar is healing and the defib is settling in then ask the hospital to run through the aftercare with you both. Does your husband have a heart nurse you can speak to for support? There's a Facebook group called ICD-crtd support uk that might want to look into. My husbands ICD was fitted in 2012 & he's never had any issues or side effects, though we know it's corrected his heart a few times. There are people in the forum who've had defibs fitted more recently, I'm sure they'll be along soon with more reassurance.
Thank you so much for your reply, My husband has a long history of heart problems, He has had 3 heart attacks in the past 11 mths plus angina pain, He had more stents fitted in Dec, In the past he has had two other heart attacks resulting in a number of stents and a quadruple heart bypass, He is a double leg amputee who is also diabetic, I will checkout that facebook group, many thanks
When I was in having some stents I was allowed home that evening, another patient was being kept in because he didn't have anyone to take care of him that evening. I think but not 100% sure it is a criteria that someone is available to spend the night with some one who has had Heart Interventions worth checking !!
