Hello everyone I hope your well. Well over a year and a half after my valve replacement surgery and I still feel so ill some days. It’s making me so sad. I just want to cry all the time. The hospital says the only thing that is wrong is a thick heart muscle. Can that make you feel really poorly. I get so dizzy but I don’t know if it’s medicine or my heart. I feel so desperate to feel better now.
Thanks for listening to me moan ☺️

Hello, poor you! It’s awful when you feel grotty, ask for help and it feels like there’s you’re getting no where.
Have you only been told “thick heart muscle” or was cardiomyopathy mentioned? I’m no expert and I don't have a medical background but my husband has Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM for short) which affects the heart muscle by causing it to thicken. There’s a charity similar to BHF called Cardiomyopathy UK. They have a fantastic website and a nurse run helpline too. It might be worth a look. Here’s the link:
Your GP ought to be able to explain more about your condition from the information the hospital should have sent them. They can also offer support by referring you for counselling. You’ve been through so much already and it’s a big thing so please don’t be too hard on yourself or think you won’t feel better because there’s often something that can be done.
In the meantime, people here on this forum are here for you. Feel free to moan, rant, question etc!
Thank you for your kind reply. No I have had test and it is just a thickened muscle because of the aortic stenosis. I just feel like nothing is getting better I have tried talking to doctors at the hospital and my gp but don’t really get anywhere. I feel so frustrated and angry. Thank you again
That was a quick reply! Perhaps talk to the BHF nurse helpline - they might be able to point you in the right direction to get some help and explain questions to ask and of whom. We found them very kind, understanding of the mental side and incredibly informative.
The BHF site says: ‘Call 0300 330 3311 to speak to one of our Cardiac Nurses. They can give you information and support about heart and circulatory diseases, and their risk factors. This includes conditions such as heart disease, stroke, vascular dementia and diabetes.’ It’s open Mon-Fri 9.00am to 5.00 pm.

Aww you poor thing. I can completely understand how your feeling. I was told it’s stress when I went to the gp on Friday. It’s so hard to stay positive. I hope you feel better soon. I’m here if u need a chat
