Stress MRI

Have a cardiac perfusion MRI on Thurs, with a generous dollop of the playful adenosine to bring back some lovely memories of my heart attack. In the tube about an hour. I actually think I would prefer to be at work.

You’d have to be doing an awful job for it to be even close. Hope it goes well 👍

For my sins, I've had two of those, so I do know what you mean and empathise.

If I can offer a ray of sunlight, it's that the adenosine effect clears very quickly once they stop administering it, and that they keep a very close eye on you.

Hope it goes well for you

Thanks all. I’ve had the adenosine twice before so I know what I’m looking forward to! The MRI is a new one on me though. Every day’s a school day!

Hi,

Just wanted to see how the CMR with adenosine went today? As I had mine as well today and currently feel like I have done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson.....

The actual test was no bed of roses either......

And to top it all sounds like it will weeks before I get to know the outcome....

Hope you are feeling better than what I do!

Hi Ned,

Yes! I feel completely wiped out too! Quite achy and feeling a bit sorry for myself. The MRI was no fun and the adenosine was as vile as I remember. I did ask the doc if everything looked ok, he said the function was good and not too damaged from HA, and my own cardiologist will be in touch. Didn’t give timescales.

Why will it be weeks for results? Where was yours done? At the hospital I was at they’ve set up the CMRI suite in the back of a lorry! And you walk past the mortuary to get to it! Someone has a sense of humour!

Mine was done in London and yes also in a lorry but there was no doctor and the nurse and radiographer were not allowed to comment. I was just told it will be a long time before the results are to hand and my last letter from cardiologist took 4 weeks to get to me...still feel very achy today....

Hope you feel better!

I was absolutely wiped out today. Came home from work early and slept on the sofa!

Wonder why it drains us so much?

My cardiologist is doing my coronary angiography (I was booked for a cardiac MRI but he changed that to the angiogram) on the 20th and has already warned me ahead of time I will be 'uncomfortable' during, and feel wretched for around 48 hours after with strong feelings of 'exhaustion' for at least the following week, possibly two. He said the exhausted feeling and residual 'discomfort' (his word for PAIN, bless him;) ) will be from the stimulant he's going to use to stress my heart. yay. That's likely the reason you feel so drained - from the stimulant used.

At least it's my cardiologist doing the procedure and I'll have my results there and then (he actually said 'I promise'). I can't imagine what it would be like to go through the angiogram, feel awful for days, and then have weeks to wait to hear the result!

Not what you're looking for?
