On my last cardiac consult I opted to have a Stress MRI. I know many on this forum have had this test. I was wondering do the results include the percentage of any blockages in the arteries, similar to pressure wire testing.
Yet someone else boasting about their qualifications! π
Sorry Deano I have not had this test but imagine it might give a reasnoble estimate. You might want to take someone with you as the drugs and dye can make you feel a bit washed out.
I had a stress test 4 weeks ago but the hospital did not go into that detail, I am now getting an angiograph thisThursday and I expect to get the blockage % information then.
I believe this test just indicates if your heart muscle is receiving enough oxygen under exercise stress which suggests a partial blockage if it is not.
According to everything I've read about a stress cardiac MRI it not only shows which and where (blockages), it shows how your heart reacts to stress in great detail, and also gives information re EF, any inflammation, and how your valves are functioning.
I had an angiogram this past Wednesday - no blockages so now I'm being scheduled for the MRI so they can see what exactly my heart does during an angina event, and how much inflammation I have from a current 'acute' flare of my recurrent pericarditis discovered during the angio.
Do you have a date yet for your MRI? Private and NHS are booked solid up here through the New Year - I'm quietly giggling about mine as I know I'll be over the pericarditis by the time I get in there and will then be apologising to the team for taking up their time Too, the only time I have angina pain is when I'm in an acute flare so this MRI is going to be interesting.
The lady at the reception part said itβs a 6 week wait, so Iβm thinking after the festivities π₯³. Although, they might have to βshoehornβ me in the scanner after Xmas.
They offered me that and I told them if it was OK with my cardiologist I'd just join at the back of the queue. They telephoned me today and told me the cardiologist says I can wait (huzzah!).
I think your need is greater than mine and I hope they do shoehorn you in soon.
Ooo, no, good thinking π€ sunnie2day Iβll ring the pretty lady receptionist tomorrow and mention Iβm available anytime....er for a stress mri that is π
I had a four week ban for speeding but also expired as over a decade ago! These days there seems an over reliance on cameras - I was caught by a motorway patrol car.
