After reading about benefits of CoQ10 my husband would like to give it a try. We see however there are varying strengths ie. 60, 100 and 200 mg. then theres also Ubiquinol 100 mg which it seems provides a higher dose of Co10 ( 280mg). Could anyone suggest which one to try to see if it helps with tackling lack of energy? A main supplier has 50 % off this month so seems like a good opportunity to try out.
Many thanks

Some European countries prescribe q10 if your taking statins as statins block q10 and vitamin K . Most people I know take 100mg either once or twice a day. If you’re on other medication it’s best to check interactions first. There are a few drug interaction sites on the net.
there is a possibility that Q10 could affect the clotting ability of warfarin, you’d need your own testing kit to be sure or a very helpful doctor. Vitamin K also affects warfarin unfortunately but is important in keeping calcium out of our arteries.
There is a way to take both of these with doctors/ hospitals help. You’ll need monitoring more often while you start taking the supplements but as long as you don’t change them your INR will then stay stable.
Pumping Marvellous makes an important recommendation talk to your doctor before starting any supplements as they can interact with your other medications.
Unfortunately for us there is not likely to be any full studies on supplements as there is no money in it. Although there has been one recently on vitC which shows large doses can reduce cancer tumours amongst other things.
The BHF, Medical Research Council and National Institute for Health Research will fund a well designed study which can show good patient involvement, and the study will benefit patients.
