Hi Prada. I have also gone through a change in some meds over the last 2 years initially prompted by angioedema after 8 years coping very well on the first set of meds. Not sure now that the angioedema was caused by the suspected drug and I am still not sorted out. I have since had PMR on top of Heart failure which was a bit nasty needing a corticosteroid to tame it and at least one dose of Covid. Currently now on an antibiotic to clear sinusitis. Difficult times I think for stabilising changes in medication as it all takes such a long time to sort out once things start to go wrong.
Ooh, a proper diuretic (as opposed to Eplerenone, the "mild" diuretic). I have Furosemide to use on an as-and-when basis.
I had to look up Finasteride to see if I was missing out on something. I'm not LOL
I've got a phone call with my consultant next week, and among other things, I'll get him to do a meds review to see if there's anything I can down on. He'll probably decide to add something instead!
Morning, Lezzers. No, I never take them for more than 3 days running. If I'm not retaining water (ie my ankles have just blown up in the heat), then they won't work on day 1, so there's no point taking more, and if I do have retention, then 2 days will get rid of it, and day 3 won't make me pee any more, so again there's no point continuing with them.
I'm not quite sure who would check my kidney function - I'd need to see a GP (3 week wait) to send me for a blood test!
Morning AlisonThanks for your reply. That's good to hear your fluid usually disappears after a few days, I'm not sure if you'd need bloods to check kidney function if you only take it for a few days but possibly worth finding out? Do you have a cardiac nurse you could ask?
My husband is in a vicious circle of fluid retention increase the furosemide & arranged bloods for a week later. A week later the nurse phones with blood results & as fluid is usually under control reduce furosemide again (unfortunately its been impossible to remove completely because the furosemide affects his kidneys which are not great anyway!) Unfortunately this time the increased furosemide isn't doing so well, nurse has just phoned & suggested another increase but husband said no, it has gone down slightly let's wait & see what the blood results are & then re-think it!
I don't have a cardiac nurse any more, and by pure coincidence, spoke to my consultant on Tuesday, so probably won't speak to him again for another year! I'll have a word with my cardiac rehab nurse friend, but she doesn't claim to be an expert on medications, beyond the normal.
Hello Need to wait another2 weeks to see if going up to 10mg Bisoprolol starts to control quite savage Ectopics, so far it hasn't BP a little low but need to report in to HF Nurse BP 86/41 was the low point ! But hey ho still here ! lol
