Thanks for the responses. Interference with the ICD was my main worry. Also though wanted to see if anyone bothered with a monitor when they had an ICD. I'm new to this and having already had one reset shock I wanted to rebuild confidence and get to understand how my heart behaves as I go about various activities. My ICD was made by Medtronic and they don't seem too interested in answering technical questions.

My husbands is a medtronic, if you go on their website there's lots of info there.
Many thanks. I'll check it out
If you have any problems let us know, there is another website but I can't think of the name at the moment. Will have a think about it
Thatwasunexpected directed me to the asktheicd link that was very helpful. It is powered by Metronic. Funny though there was nothing about long haul flights (or helicopter flights - another occasional necessity) but all my other immediate questions were answered by asktheicd. Thanks for all your help.
ICD's are not affected by flights, long haul or short haul. If your medical team say your health is OK, and that their happy for you to fly then there shouldn't be a issue. Just avoid going through the security scanners, although the newer ones don't post any risk to the ICD, I believe.
Many thanks for your help. I'll read up on all the information/links that I've been sent by you and others. Your input is much appreciated.
That asktheicd link is great. Many thanks. Very reassuring and it answered a lot of my questions but funnily didn't say anything about long haul flights. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.
