Balloons and Tavi

My sister in law lives in Surrey some two hundred miles away from me, we keep in touch weekly. Kate is 75 and I am 84. Five weeks ago she told me she was breathless, I advised her to see a Doctor which did the following week, who told her it was the pollen count, Kate agreed with the Doc, that was on a Wednesday, the following Sunday she became very ill and breathless, she called an ambulance, while she was giving the hospital details, she collapsed and was put on life support, the following morning she was rushed to St George's in London.

It turned out it was her heart and while she was on life support, they inserted a balloon procedure in the LAD,, the following three weeks she hovered between life and death, the balloon started to work and now she has been sent to a ward where she awaits a TAVI when she is well enough, do we know anyone on here who has had a TAVI?

There are some members who have had a TAVI procedure. Maybe one will be online later. I believe the oldest person treated by TAVI was over 100 years old. Mick Jagger underwent this procedure in April and resumed touring at the end of June. Hope it all goes well...

Thank you Michael, I gather that you can have a TAVI if you pay for for it. Otherwise it has to be a medical need. A TAVI explains Mick Jagger quick recovery.

Hello.

I have just had my Mitral valve replaced (Tavi). I was admitted to hospital on the day of the operation and discharged the following day. It is a relatively simple procedure which is performed daily.

I have been off work for almost a month and am recovering a little slower than I had hoped but we all recover at different rates and I do have other issues which are slowing down my recovery rate.

Thank you for your comment. I think my sister in law has been so seriously ill, that she will take some time to recover from a TAVI
