I am 8 weeks post TAVI. For the first 6 weeks I felt so much better than before the op. The past two weeks I have been up and down and so has my blood pressure. It has been going up daily to around 170/110 and down as low as 79/58. This happens several times a day and when low I feel washed out and weak and when high, I just feel rubbish. I. Between I feel fine. The Doctor says that she cannot increase tablets because it may go even lower. I have not had my post op appointment yet, they say I am on the waiting list. I also get short of breath, which is worse than before the op. I would appreciate hearing fro anyone else who has had these symtoms.

Blood Pressure problems after TAVI
what a pity. You have gone through the op, started to get better and now have a problem.
I had the joy and elation of fully recovering after surgery for stenosis. Then the problems started to return. But what I did was stupid…..I assumed it was a failure of my new valve. It took me many many months, even a year or two, before it sank in that it wasn’t anything to do with the valve, it was in fact Parkinsons but I was assuming heart problems ! Not sure if that’s a good thing, but it does stop me thinking it might be a heart issue.
Likewise, I thought it must be the medication, but it isn’t.
A new valve is an amazing event but it doesn’t stop ageing and other ailments jumping on the bandwagon.
Just thinking.
Sooty.
My wife had a TAVI procedure in late June and has had the same or similar BP problems that you describe but none of the other symptoms. She went back to her Cardiologist, with the problem, he has prescribed medication via out GP practices.
So, the advice is - go back to your Cardiologist asap. Good luck!
Hi I had a TAVI last year at 75 and had the same problem I blacked out paramedis took me into local hospital who coferred with my surgeon. My blood pressure was shooting up and down between 210 and then dropping to 80 and up again I was told it was a really good sign as my new valve was working so well that my blood was trying to find its new correct level Theyvtook me off my blood pressure tablets for three weeks and it settled Sandown and they then restarted my tablet as it had settled still very slightly too high It has been stable ever since. I was told it often happens but I was never warned about it Anyway don't worry too much but I would ring your cardiologists secretary and get her to pass a message on
Take care and I hope you soon get it sorted
Thank you very much for your reply. I am getting quite stressed about it as it makes me nervous to go out as you never know when it’s going to drop. I will try ringing cardiologists secretary as you said.
Hopefully you will get through to her. Yes it does make you nervous about being out I was was actually standing in garden talking to my 92 year old neighbour I am surprised I didn't give her a heart attack but she coped really well and rang 999 so it took me weeks after to feel confident it wouldn't happen again
