hi guys had my appointment with cardiologist today. very low blood pressure so he’s stopped ramapril and ivabradine. sent me for treadmill test which i found extremely difficult. couldn’t finish it this time. only managed to finish stage 3. breathing was all over the place. the doc just called after studying report and found changes in ecg which he wouldn’t have expected after stenting. thinks i may need another angio so goin to talk to angio man that done last one and discuss options. as they can’t treat me with meds as i’m very symptomatic they’ll have to discuss alternative treatment. who knows what that means. anyone experienced this before. iv also to stop exercising although he’s allowing me to go to old people’s rehab as it’s less intense. i’m not agist so don’t take this the wrong way but i think this would make me feel as if iv lost the battle iv been fighting for the last year. i know i’m ranting on a bit but it’s been a helluva day guys❤️shiona

Hey, sorry your news wasn't better. Please don't worry bout the re-hab my husband was 42 when he went & there was all age groups there. Hopefully things will look better once they've sorted out the alternative treatment. Xx

The sun certainly does shine in Scotland, I was there one December & the weather was gorgeous...or was that the whisky!! Xx

Hi Shiona. Sorry to hear your news. What a B. Gunsmoke is right (you never thought that would happen!) you are now on their radar and they will have to follow through until you’re sorted. Keep battling it must feel like a setback but hold onto the fact that they are doing something and working to find a solution.

Old people’s rehab not so bad you meet people like me !👵🏻

Ranting mandatory in this situation!

Take care. Sending big hugs and thinking of you. Zena xx

Hi.

I feel your pain so much. I have been going through exactly the same for a year now. I had stent fitted then cardiac arrest after which has damaged my heart.

The meds make my blood pressure too low so I’m in limbo as well.

I really am fed up now. Two consultants have told me that I will never be the same and look to change my lifestyle

it is a bit of a bummer but keep fighting the fight. i did all the lifestyle changes. even reversed diabetes. sometimes we just get a dodgy deal. we’ll be ok my friend. that low bp is a bit of a shit though❤️

We all have days where we feel like we fighting a loosing battle ... me I have lots of them lol but try to remember u are like most have said on the radar now so any help available you will hopefully get . Being unaware is the most dangerous because we do not know to listen to our body or it’s warning signs . Take it easy try not to stress although easier said I know and hopefully the angio will show up any abnormalities giving the docs the best chance to treat you . Good luck and please keep us informed

thanks jillofish. i love that name. i’m feeling more optimistic now reading all your replies. my rational mind knows you are right but the irrational takes over when in shock i will keep you all informed. hope it doesn’t take too long❤️

Oh bless you. I thought I was a youngster at 64! I have just had 4 days in hospital with really low blood pressure and dehydration. My meds have been tweaked in the hopes that it will come up again but it's not like high blood pressure which you can reduce!

The average age of my companions on the ward was 90 and they put me to shame with their stoic attitude and desire to get better and get home!

We can learn a lot from the older generation.

I hope that you finally get the answers that you want and that your fitness levels increase. It's no fun having to taper your lifestyle accordingly

So sorry to hear that - the feeling of going backwards makes me feel so fedup too. Do rant as it is very therapeutic...... only thing I can say about old people exercise class is that one has really helped me and the age range is 32 to 84. Just look on it as a refresher course before you get back to the real thing...... I also found being with other people who could talk to me about the challenges of being a heart patient because they knew exactly what it is like really helpful. Good luck, I hope you get your appointments and things resolve quickly.

Hi Shoshov.

Don't think you're on your own. You'll get sorted out soon.

My hubby was devastated when he found he couldn't be 'stented' and his consultant just said that bypasses were better so "stop being a wimp"!!

He's never looked back (other than that issue with 'white coat syndrome' where he was banned from going to cardio rehab as they were worried about his ridiculously high BP!)

We're thinking of you and please rant away! I gets the stuff out of your head that you'd otherwise bottle up. xxx

Hi Shoshov,

This has much in common with my history. At 57 I’m still classed as young in this game 😀, 4 stents but still got problems like you.

Rehab was good, and no one cares about age or capability.

I also have low BP, which makes it really hard to get the meds right, especially as I have ongoing pain (MVA). Watch for the White Coat Syndrome, which can make your BP seem normal when at appointments- I use a machine at home and keep a record.

Make sure MVA is on their radar. The combination of symptoms (HA, stents, low BP I think) and age meant that my cardiologist would ‘expect it’, not sure of the logic, but he was right.

he didnt mention mva but rehab nurse mentioned it a few weeks ago. maybe that’s why he’s consulting with stent surgeon. just have to wait and see. that’s the hard part❤️

Hi Shoshov

I am sorry you are not doing as well as you would have hoped.

I agree with HectorsDad advice about the possibility of Microvascular or vasospastic angina. Not all Cardiologists are as astute as HectorsDad's doctor.

I also have issues with low blood pressure so much so that my Cardiologist will only attempt any medication changes when I am in hospital.

There are other medications that can help without lowering your BP too much. It is a case of trial and error.

I hope you get the answers and treatment you need soon. Being in limbo is very unsettling.
