i’m more confused than ever. saw cardiologist and he doesn’t think it’s angina as there’s no changes in ecg so delaying going to cath lab. iv to have a thallium profusion scan which i believe traces blood flow under stress to check for any blockage or damage that would account for the pain. he’s doubled up atorovastatin to 80 mg and isosorbide to 20mg twice daily. short story is i’m stuck here until i get the test done. was hoping for a discharge today but no luck. at least i don’t need to watch the storms as i’m in a cubicle in ccu that doesn’t have a window but also isolated with nobody to talk to😩. so probably means i might torture you guys out of boredom. on the plus side ihavent had any pain today❤️shiona

angina update
Oh Shiona nothing worse than being a medical mystery, I hope they get to the root of the pain soon so you can escape.
Update on the outside world.... Storm Dennis is pretty much on its way out (having left devastation in his wake!) storm Helen is due, some people are saying (though not me ☺!) that it's always a woman that has to finish off what a man has started!! (watch me get slaughtered for that one!)
We're definitely here to relieve your boredom, though take no advice from Deano, he obviously can't read 😂
Take care, keep us up to date when you can xx
tell me about it leslie. where did helen come from. the school i went to taught us that there’s an e and an f between d and h. they’re changing the rules.🤣you probably will get a bashing but i’m in your corner don’t worry. you know deono’s always right. even when he’s wrong. there now we can share the abuse🤣
Maybe Ellen rather than Helen!
that’s a good cop out for leslie🤣sorry. cabin fever setting in❤️
Ha 😂 thought I'd got away with that one!! How are you today? X
Update on the outside world....its freezing ❄
yeah i’m feeling much better. still getting a bit of pain but minor now. don’t know when i’m getting the scan done. it’s just a waiting game leslie. maybe it’s best i can’t see out a window🤣
Glad you're feeling better. Hope you've got a tv/tablet/book/kindle to keep you busy so that you don't get hooked on daytime TV! X
Oh dear. such a drag when they can't offer any diagnosis.
On the brighter side, you're missing nothing from the outside world. The gales here are still going today and tomorrow, and they're now promising gales Friday/Saturday/Sunday! - it's called Storm Ellen by the way!
Hope you get this sorted soon.
Isn't Ellen a cockneys way of saying Helen??? 😂 Just kidding, you're quite right it is Ellen. Let's hope she's kinder & shows her softer side, these storms scare the life out of me!
Yeah, I'm getting a bit fed up with being stuck in the house. My latest supply of meds have been waiting in the chemist since last Monday - too wet and windy to walk up to chemist. Had to go this morning as nearly out of a few things - it was dry for a change, but walking into a battering wind was not much fun. This weather is when food shopping on the internet comes into it's own.😊
Rest up my friend. I had a stress profusion scan the other week, it’s no bother and less risky than a angio ( not that an angio’s risky anyway). Is yr BP holding up alright ?
so far james. does it take long and is it strange thinking your exercising when your not. have you had any results yet❤️
Yea, I profused alright but my EF is 46%. So I’m focused on getting that bk up into normal range.
i don’t know what that means james. iv seen lots of members talk about it but don’t know what it means❤️
Oh right exercising, ok, hmmmm it’s like moving around, going the gym, dancing or swimming that sort of thing. Hope this helps.
no i think i’m still spaced out today after all that morphine i got yesterday. might have a clearer head tomorrow. ❤️
EF - ejection fraction - the measurement of percentage of blood flow through your ventricles on contraction and relaxation and is used by many cardiac medics (nurses and doctors) to determine function (or lessening of) as an aid to diagnosis and course of treatment.
This BHF article (short but informative) is an interesting read:
Room with no windows, great you feel improved. smart tv time ?
yeah is 4 beds separated by curtains. 2 have a window. alas i have the side with none. it looks nice out. can see the sun shining through the curtain. the man in window bed shuts himself off with the curtain all day. not very sociable but listening to the way he talks to staff it’s maybe a good think i can’t see him. i have to say iv never witnessed as much rudeness towards staff(not just curtain man)in my life. i’m really shocked❤️shiona
How are things today, are you still a prisoner of the NHS? Have all tests been completed? Xx
hi leslie. yeah still an inmate. i’m actually in a glasgow hospital waiting on an ambulance to get back to my hospital. you couldn’t write this. i left wishaw at 10 o’clock and had ambulance booked for 4 to come back. while getting my scan done they decided because i came in on an emergency ambulance i couldn’t go back in one. you couldn’t get this transport and you can’t get that. that would take too long and on and on it went eventually they got me in a private ambulance with 3 other people who were dropped of the other side of glasgow to us. of course they went first. so all in all it took from 10 this morning until 9 this evening to get bk. i’m absolutely shattered and to top it off angina kicked in halfway through my procedure. i had a staff nurse with me who didn’t even have a gtn spray with her. luckily i had one in my jacket. couldn’t get as much as paracetamol so iv had a lovely day. it can only get better tomorrow 🤣bet you wished you hadn’t asked now🤣
