Essex Cardiothoracic Centre Visitor Facilities

After being referred to Essex CTC in Feb and undergoing Pre-op tests on April 2nd I've now had my date for surgery.

I'm having Mitral Valve Repair/Replacement and also a Triple Bypass on the 11th July (fingers crossed).

We live 65 miles away in Suffolk and as my wife doesn't drive she has booked the onsite accommodation offered by Essex CTC (for, I think, £25/28 per night.)

Has anyone stayed in this accommodation? What facilities are there available in the room etc?

Any information would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Kind regards

David

I have no experience of Essex CTC but stayed in accommodation at two other hospitals last year. Each time the room was basic but clean. Both had ensuite and tea/coffee making facilities. The first had access to a commumlnal kitchen with a microwave - the cafe/restaurant opening hours were limited. The other had an all hours coffee shop nearby. At the price point towels, etc. were provided but not hairdryers, iorns, etc. I expect your wife will find much the same. Maybe someone can provide rather more detailed information than a best guess.
