After a long wait to see a Cardiologist (my first referral disappeared in February), which took place in mid-November, I was seen by the Consultant who confirmed my condition and he set everything in motion for a TAVI at Barts. Expectation was for procedure in February subject to US scan and CT Scan. US was done beginning December but CTC Scan only done 16 Jan.
I saw Dr to discuss results and was told it would go ahead ASAP.
My hospital appt arrived 21 Feb for admission 4th March, TAVI next day and discharge 6th March.
All went very smoothly and I've been doing some daily walking increasing duration and inclines which were extremely difficult before procedure.
So presently I'm very happy with everything. If you're waiting for the same procedure I can tell you it was pain free with just some pushing in the groin area and a bit of minor bruising there.

Congratulations on your successful TAVI - mine last July also went very smoothly. The next day I accumulated 70 minutes of gentle and cautious walking around the hospital in five or six stages. My only mild concern afterwards was the large blue-black stain/bruise on the left side of my groin where the tracker dye had been pumped in; this gradually receded and disappeared. A nurse told me not use Dettol on it! Once you had your cardiology appointment you seem to have had a not too unreasonable wait for the op. I was allocated to Hammersmith NHS. Each Monday I was meant to fill in a form and chat with a nurse on the phone about my condition but was never given any indication of when the procedure would take place. The hospital website advised that on my notified day of admission I should ring up after midday to see if a bed was available. I switched to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
As soon as I had a date for the procedure I got a 45 minute call from Barts Cardio nurse asking detailed questions about my medical history which is already given before and she explained exactly what would happen to me from admission to discharge. I also had been sent a link including an animated video of the procedure so I was well aware of what was going to happen. Yes I have some bruising around the groin but it'll disappear before too long I'm sure
