Hi all this may sound silly but is it normal for some one to be absolutely knackered after having a heart attack and if so how long does it usually last ?
Tired : Hi all this may sound silly but... - British Heart Fou...
Tired
Hi Chughes1991. Yes it is. I’m four months in and still shattered.
Thank you makes Sense
Yes totally normal. As well as doing the daily walk fit in as much resting as you can. Take care not to over exhaust yourself - and I found chatting to visitors one of the most exhausting things I did. Bone weary does not describe the tiredness to start with but it passes.
Yes. Absolutely normal. I could barely do anything (not even watch tv) for a couple of weeks.
But it does get better! Good luck.
Me too, I was totally exhausted after my HA. The difference for me was that having been a very poor sleeper, I got to sleep at least 7 hours at night, I was still tired during the day. Now, two years later I am fine, at 84 I don't even have a rest during the day.
Yes - and the drugs you'll be taking will be a prime factor. Keep taking the drugs - they are there for a reason. But it will improve!
I think it depends how long after your HA and whether you are doing anything to help I prove your fitness. If you are months down the road but still sitting on a sofa waiting for the tiredness to go then you need to have a chat with your doctors and nurses to change your lifestyle or have another look at your health. Have you been to rehab yet.
Hi. For the first 12 weeks post HA I was knackered. Combination of drugs and recovery. I’m now back at work full time and each week I’m feeling better and able to do lots more. Still get a bit tired but nothing like the early days. Rehab discussion helped me to work out if it was normal or when I should get help. Good luck and enjoy being able to rest.
