so tired after dtent

I had a stent fitted 8 days ago, I have been exhausted to the point of sleeping 14 to 15 hours a day. Have been put on numerous meds, has anyone else had this fatigue?

Don't be hard on yourself it's going to take time and the meds are to slow you down they will take at least 6 months to settle down. Your body has went through a shock. I'm 6 months in and was very active and none smoker and none drinker. I still get tired and it has left me feeling anxious at times. But it's getting better and feeling better. 😊 Hang on in. Keep thinking positive

thank you I will take your words onboard, I’m the same non smoker, non drinker and was very active, all a bit of a shock

My heart attack was a "bit of a shock" 4 years ago. I had two stents fitted and two more part blockages that didn't need doing. The actual heart attack and stents didn't really cause any problems b ut he medication certainly did. The side effects were so bad, I Had to have most of them changed. It is hard at first to suddenly realise that you are not immortal but honesty ou will eventually come round to realising it could have been a whole lot worse and your stent has improved your life

it’s very common. A lot of it is caused by the meds doing what is necessary and your body getting used to them. Give it a bit of time and try not to worry.

Thank you I will take that onboard, first time on any meds so my body must be thinking whoa what is this??

Hi, i was like this prior to the stents and after. I was taken off the betablockers and it made an immediate improvement. When i was taken off the amlodipine it improved again.

Thank you when I look back I have been so tired but I put it down to stress but now I realise it was my heart. I have to be patient I think

Thank you for your kind words, I think I thought I’d bounce straight back to normal but it makes sense, mentally it has scared me at times.

hi Scads. Sorry about that, but it takes time for the artery to stretch properly and the foreign object (stent) to bed in. Give yourself time. Rest. Nurture yourself!

It's more than likely to be one of the meds making you so tired; probably the beta blocker. IT dropped my BP so low I couldn't even get out of the chair. I just wanted to sleep

Hi Scads

I had stent on 22nd November I am a nurse and a very impatient patient. Completely understand how you feel, it’s a major shock, it happens to other people not you. I too slept practically for days on end but I am feeling much better now and also realise that previous fatigue was probably my underlying CHD.

Be kind to yourself and patient it takes time to come to terms with it all and definitely take up the cardio rehab when offered as a lot of emotional support there. Have a lovely Xmas.

I had my bit of bother during a swim on 23rf November. Had an angiograph on 24th, they didn't stent but put me on a cocktail of meds. I've been really tired since. Most likely a combination of shock, being in hospital, the meds and anxiety. As others have said, be kind to yourself and take time to heal, both physically and emotionally.

Thank you I think you are right it is a shock to the system both mentally and physically, hope you start to feel better soon too.
