You can, I have, but either ask a health professional, or ring the BHF with the same question or tell us a bit more.

Why shouldn't you? If you look after yourself and take your Meds etc etc...I'm waiting for a diagnosis of microvascular angina and I'm just 51...I'm still working through the pain most days...Yes it has had a huge impact on my life but I have 4kids and one only 5...I get up each morning for her and the rest as much as myself. And when I go to bed scared at times like you I'm sure I just keep thinking what choice do I have? I still want to achieve things. After all what alternative do we have? Dig our own 6f hole and jump in it and shut the lid 😃😂😁😁😀

Hi Rob. Only young like me to have angina. I'm 53 with a disabled daughter. Had andiogram back in October shown LAD at 70% plaque. Was great until around January then chest pains. Comes on when I have eaten a meal or when cold. Gp thinks its anxiety. Waiting to go back to see cardiologist. To me it seems very much like angina

I have lived with Vasospastic angina for over 6 years.

Still here!

The uncertainty is so unsettling.

I was told I was having a panic attack anxiety etc but I persisted and was referred to a specialist who understood about Vasospastic and Microvascular angina. I now have a diagnosis and a plan of care and the appropriate treatment.

You know your body best but be prepared to be an advocate for yourself.

Cardiologists are unable to know everything and from time to time need to refresh their knowledge. I regularly send the latest research papers to my Cardiologist and GP which they tell me helps them.

Good luck

For years I had undiagnosed angina (in the throat) and it was only when I started to get breathless and decided to carry out an angiogram. Result 6 stents and feeling great.

Always best to get it checked out.

Great news you are feeling great! Brilliant. I get a weird sensation in my throat like as if something is pressing against it

You need to get yourself checked out. Angina is a symptom and you need to know why it is happening. Much better to sort out its cause. See your GP urgently.

Hi Red18, when you had your angiogram which showed 70% blockage in LAD didn't they give you medication and say that this was reason for angina ?

I have angina which after angiogram showed 80% blockage in LAD which for now is being treated by medication . I have only had angina pain three times . Twice before being diagnosed in Nov.16 and once since.

Hellooooo Plum 53. When I got results of andiogram cardiologist advised I take an aspirin and a statin. I was discharged. When I got the results of andiogram I then began walking everywhere and lost 22 pounds. Chlosterol went from 5.9 to 4.9 in 10 wks. I did6 take statins just aspirin. Everything was fine for 2 months or so since then I have not been well at all. I constantly feel I have heartburn and I have a funny strange strangling feeling across my throat. Been back to gp 3 times and A&E 3 times but because no sign of heart attack sent home. Waiting now for referral back to cardiologist. Let's just hope I don't have a heart attack in the mean time..

Hi thank you for prompt reply, I was given aspirin , statin, 1.25 Bisoprolol and 5mg Amlodopine I was already on 5mg Ramipril . I was told blood flow was good but would consider stent if symptoms changed or became more often.

I wish I could walk a lot more but my back plays me up. . Hope you are seen soon and get things sorted. Wishing you all the best going forward .

I have known my father in law for over 40 years and for at least 30 of those years he has had to use a spray/tablets for angina, he’s 86 this year :)

That’s the sort of story I like to hear. Never really hear from people who do well.

Hellooooo... Thanks for replying. It does ease my anxiety a little knowing he has had this condition a number of years. And is still going strong. X

Before I was diagnosed with Heart Failure, I found that not knowing was worse. Don't be afraid; get diagnosed, then you know what you're dealing with and can get the treatment you need.
