had a persistent dull ache in chest /arm /kneck all morning which didn’t drop on resting so had 2 sprsprays of gtn and fainted! No damage done. Angina has gone but am worried about using gtn now, because I live alone. What is more risky? The angina or the fainting?

I suggest you either talk to the BHF Heart Helpline nurse or better make an appointment to see your GP about your situation.

People on here know nothing about your medical history and most are not medically qualified to answer your question including me.
Thanks for that. Did speak to my gp but he didn’t know what to suggest. He admitted it was beyond his expertise. He suggested I rang my consultant which I did. I’m waiting for her response.
I would have to agree with Lowerfields and suggest that you seek some professional advice, especially as you live on your own and I can’t imagine either are a desirable option.
Sending you best wishes and hope you get the care and support you need to be reassured.
Hi
I have the same it is because it lowers my already low blood pressure, I sit in chair or lie down just before spray, thankfully I am not alone most of the time, Talk to your GP or nurse
Best wishes
Hi there. Be careful to stay sitting down, and just have one spray at a time. After having two sprays almost together I fainted and hit my head on a hard floor. (I was standing at the time.) The cardiologist said to be sure to stay sitting down, because the GTN opens your blood vessels and can lead to fainting.
The advice is to take the spray sitting down. If you are fainting you might be taking too much- but this would need discussion with your GP. The spray is not per se dangerous at all- it’s just the risk of falls (caused by the drop in blood pressure).
I had the same reaction to one spray !! I also have low blood pressure and as advised by others do sit down . Unfortunately I was outside !! My consultant told me in future to spray onto my finger and rub it under my tongue - hope this helps .
Thanks for your help. I was sitting down and slipped off the chair when fainting banging my head on coffee table. No serious problems. Will just take one spray in future. Waiting for a perfusion scan where they can see what is happening
