Angina

Have Angina. Got diagnosed in the beginning of November. Before I had my andiogram my diet was pretty dire. The first couple of months had no symptoms at all really. Now after losing 20 pounds of fat and reducing my chlosterol considerably along with a very healthy diet. Lots of fruit, vedg, pulses now get regular angina pains everyday. And plenty of walking .I now am so stressed. I naively thought if I was really good I could stop the progression of the atherosclerosis and improve on my angina symptoms?? So scared as I have a disabled daughter that relies so much on me.

It sounds like you need support. How do you get on with your g.p.? If you are a carer and infirm you may need to get in touch with social services. You may have done both of these but at times the wheels can run slow! Don't beat yourself up because of what you weren't doing but just carry on adjusting to a new way.

I'm with Love100cats on this one - talking therapy will probably help. In the mean time, try and stay positive. All the weight loss and increased exercise are definitely the right things to do, so try not to fall off the wagon and keep going

Are you sure your latest symptoms are angina and not stress playing tricks on you? Do you use a GTN spray and does it alleviate the symptoms? As a sufferer myself, I know anxiety can make the symptoms a lot worse.

Hi. I wish they weren't anxiety. Of course I am worried. Extremely worried. GP telling me also maybe anxiety related. At home I'm fine. It's warm and I'm not rushing around lifting etc. In work today felt terrible. Where I work is cold so temperature not in my favour too. I do have a GTN spray and when I do use it does help but I don't like to use it all the time. Probably psychological that when it dies alleviate the pain I then have to admit it is Angina and nothing else. Thanks for your support.

Cold is an enemy. Don’t hesitate to use the spray but it sounds as if your meds need adjusting. They are rarely correct first time around. Talk to your cardiologist.

Good luck

How blocked are your arteries? - if you have upped your exercise you will need to bear in mind that it took years for your arteries to clog up and that regular gentle exercise may be the order of the day. If your arteries are clear look at some of milkfairy's posts.
