I am an active, 50+ female, who leads an overall healthy lifestyle. I do not drink or smoke and I have not consumed caffeine for over 10 years. However, I frequently experience ectopic beats. These can vary in intensity and length. The worst ones literally stop me in my tracks as I'm unable to walk. These can last from seconds to minutes. They leave me feeling scared and vulnerable as they are completely random. Despite being reassured that they are benign and harmless, they do not feel as if they are. The impact on my psychological health as been profound. I'm scared to be on my own or to undertake the level of exercise I once enjoyed. Does anyone else suffer with these nasty episodes?

Hi I'm exactly the same! I've had ectopics for the last 10 years, they were very occasional at the beginning but I now experience many every single day. They absolutely frighten the life out of me and I too am afraid to be on my own. It's very easy for people who don't experience them to say " don't worry about them, they are harmless" when every time I feel them I think my heart is going to stop. Do you take any medication for them?.
Hi yes I think I have a pretty good diet, don't drink or smoke and am normal weight. I've tried so many things but nothing seems to make any difference, I know anxiety makes them worse but it's a vicious circle!
That's interesting I will look into it. thanks
