How long after a pre-op assessment for bypass surgery would you expect surgery?
Pre/op: How long after a pre-op... - British Heart Fou...
Pre/op
Depends on the hospital, but usually it means the op will be within three months of the pre-op checks, but some hospitals have a smaller window for it.
Good luck with your op.

The pre-op is valid for three months. Mine went a week over but others have had surgery after two weeks. The best thing is to get a date and hope they stick to it. Cancellations get to one's mind!
I had my bypass in April last year. I was given the date for the op when I first saw the surgeon in March. This was at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital, I had been referred there after an angiogram at my local hospital in February. The pre-op appointment was only about 10 days before the op. It seems vary all over the country

Good morning,
I had my angiogram last May and my quadruple bp in August. I was told to carry on as normal and still go on holiday in June to Italy and Spain as already booked.
Surprisingly I did and managed to feel ‘normal’ as was suggested.
Good luck, it seems a long haul initially but stay positive, it helps.
To be honest as it was Europe it never crossed my mind to let them know as apart from a slight ache in my arm I had no symptoms from my 4 blocked arteries.
When I had my trip to Vietnam a few weeks ago I definitely did declare it but still puzzled why I had to pay an extra £95, apparently because I’m on 1.5 mg of bisoprolol and when I got my schedule in the post it stated blocked artery but of course I haven’t as they’ve been done. That’s insurance companies though!
The pre -op is a wonderful opportunity for you to have a good luck at your blood test results and ask questions. Take a pen, a paper, and a partner and make notes.
