Salads are good for your conscience but chocolate olivers taste a hell of a lot better! ;)

Haha

I live with pain everyday in my life and to be honest my quality of life is also important.

Please can I also ask you to consider that diet is only part of the sum to wellbeing.

I have read your many other posts and I would like to say that whilst I agree that sugar has a deterimental impact on people's health diabetes is not the only reason why we become unwell.

My BMI is 21, HbAc1 very low, I eat a Mediterranean diet, I exercise my mind and body. I do not have Coronary artery disease but I am still at risk of a heart attack, stroke and heart failure because all the blood vessels in my body constrict causing ischaemia in my heart and brain.

It all hurts.

I cannot eat my way out of my condition.

I do however prefer dark chocolate!

I read somewhere a study where people who ate a square of high cocoa % dark chocolate lived longer than those who didn’t. I didn’t question the source of the report at that point. Has been the one piece of dietary advice I’ve managed to follow flawlessly.

What about dark chocolate and chilli?

That doesn’t do it for me. I’ve already come a long way from a bar of Dairy Milk in one sitting. There’s enough veg to deal with now - without adding one to chocolate .

I have also heard that dark chocolate, without milk, syrup and sugar, which is wholly cocoa, is good for health. But caffeine in coffee and nicotine in tea is not good, it cause blood pressure, and makes me wonder if inflammation in stomach from it contributes to higher blood pressure, and inflammation is dangerous for the heart.

That made me laugh :- I am usually googling heart stuff - now I am educating myself on chocolate Olivers. Since last April I just have had literally a couple of pieces then this week I have eaten a box of Hotel Chocolat choice I was given for Christmas feel sick and have a headache now. Back on the wagon tomorrow.

Hi nathan 53. I hear you, no amount of willpower in the world will stop the desire to consume any product from Hotel Chocolat no matter how big or small the option 🤣🤣🤣🍫...... life is too short for that!

Go for it! Everything in moderation, it's so easy to become wrapped up in all the 'expert' advice which is often contradictory. Fortunately I don't have a sweet tooth so am not a chocolate fan, but cheese? Oh yes!

I miss cheese more than almost anything else - which has come as a surprise.

I find I am having a flare of gastritis or something and don't want to eat much except yoghurt , soups, toast , and halva or chocolate. Yesterday made a batch of low sugar coconut flour blueberry muffins because I was consuming too much sugar. I never heard of chocolate olivers ,at first I thought you meant olives dipped in chocolate.

Olives dipped in chocolate! :)

I haven't seen them deep fried in batter either! :)

Not that I'm advising anyone to eat chocolate, but I ate chocolate made with olive oil in Spain.... Think it must be an aquirred taste!!

Spain has one of the lowest rates of CHD in Europe yet when I visit I see high sugar foods consumed and churros (fried batter) dipped in chocolate mmmmm

Maybe they're eaten in moderation/as a treat as opposed to be part of their regular diet!! My sisters ex husband was Spanish, they lived in Spain & he did most of the cooking. Every meal was freshly prepared with lots of veg, mind you he's paella was to die for... Not literally!!
