Thought for Bedtime!

If one sins against the laws of proportion and gives something too big to something too small to carry it -- too big sails to too small a ship, too big meals to too small a body, too big powers to too small a soul -- the result is bound to be a complete upset. In an outburst of hubris the overfed body will rush into sickness, while the jack-in-office will rush into the unrighteousness that hubris always breeds. -Plato, philosopher (427-347 BC)

But note Plato realised that overeating was unhealthy nearly 2,500 years ago. So why are people still doing it?

Plato does mention birds in comparison to a wild unstructured life. He doesn't mention gin it had not been invented then!

See how much better life is now then!! NO gin...good grief!

As it was such a lovely day I've been out walking since 11.00 this morning, been walking around local parkland, over National Trust common and along a coastal footpath that used to be a railway line. Got back to West Kirby at 15.30 and there's a nice bar/restaurant on the front looking out on the river/estuary that serves a mean Peroni - very tempted but decided to be good and went into town centre and had a coffee in a cafe instead.

I'm impressed

So am I!

It was hot work walking around for over 4 hours. There was a time when that large Peroni (or 2 or 3) would have been a given reward after a long walk. It's taken a lifetime, but I think I'm learning

I've heard of bad dreams from bisoprolol but not Entresto!!

in reply toLezzers

You should try Flecainide dreams - I have the content for several books, TV series & blockbuster movies from mine & I've only been on them a year! Interesting usually & just occasionally scary. Oh the new careers I’ve had.

Aperol Spritz is what I miss in sunny weather.

Hi

Fabulous, a good start to the morning for me, like the Y2K bug many years ago that was going to cause meltdown, then nothing happened.

I think those in charge have missed the biggest trick to help brexit, duty free shopping for all will be back in the agenda!

Have a great weekend

As an American I never understood the EU from the get-go.

Seemed like letting the foxes into the henhouse.

...and then there is the upside for Yellowhammer Remain to consider.

* The commonwealth becomes a larger trading block than the EU, where all the systems were set up by the UK and English is the key language. Unlike the EU, these people are not our direct competitors in every sphere.

* Then the rest of the world where growth isn't stagnant like the EU, we will be spoilt for choice of people to trade with.

* Uk multinational will pay their taxes to the UK government instead of to Luxembourg and our EU fees can go to the NHS.

All this and many other things will make the UK richer....but will we be happier...especially given the lying politicians we have?

More up to date phylosphy:- "Tell a lie big enough and repeat it often enough and it will be believed" A.Hitler, He wasn't wrong eiether.

For those who do not share my weird reading habits in the article I mentioned to Michael I found these facts particularly interesting:

In 2018 "Over the past three years the number of medicines in short supply in America has increased by half to 280....... 21 EU countries in 2018 suggested that shortages are growing more acute". "In France shortages in medications increased 20 fold between 2008 and 2018 according to the country's drug regulator."

Well that foils my plan for a day trip to France to purchase medicines should they become unavailable here!

But, much more cheerfully, there are indications that recent innovations may sort out the problems associated with drug manufacturer so still not worried... yet!
