Phil Collins can hardly hold his drumsticks, Eric Clapton struggles to play his guitar and I am a heartie and amputee who takes more drugs than Keith Richards. This getting older is no fun! ☹️ Mind you Keith can still play some great riffs so not all negative! 🤣🤣🤣

Thought For Saturday
Nice one!!!
What a drag it is getting old 😀
OK, it's so true - ageing is not for the 'faint of heart'. But in the end, it beats the alternative
I recently reached the age of 65 (last week of August) and I'm still walking around the house repeating 'WOW!! I'm 65, how cool is that?!'.
Happy belated birthday, hope you had a lovely day.
Pauline
As Bryan Adams said, gonna be 18 till I die. Can't behave, won't behave and havin' fun being naughty at almost 56 in years but not in spirit, lol. 🤪
My father was in hospital after a heart attack, and said getting old is the pits! I looked at him and said it will be fine! (40 years ago) Now I know exactly what he meant 😂😂😂
"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people’s gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple."

Love it! Happen to like purple too 😱🤪
Hi Milkfairy. Always loved that poem. Now where shall I start on the list? As I am 'only' 58 I think I should make an early start so the kids get used to the idea!!
A great poem but clearly written by someone who doesn't know about getting old. For one thing, if you sit on the pavement you can't get up afterwards.
I am one of these RedHat Ladies and they are my lifeline. I really recommend it. I was a member when I was in my early sixties and apart from osteoarthritis relatively fit? Over the years I have had a major heart attack, 7 stents and pacemaker. 2 new knees, lots of falls one causing subdural bleed which needed 2surgeries and left me with nerve damage in one eye when I already had dry AMD in the other. The friends I have made in the group have kept me going. I also have PMR which means I have good and bad days but I am never left out. I am so lucky to have this support now I am in my eighties.
Well I’m 50 and resolutely anti anti-ageing. There’s only one alternative and not everyone has the opportunity. I’m already 16 years older than my big brother was when he died.
😂as usual Michael your wicked humour shines through.
I'm 58 and climbed a tree yesterday(well up a couple of branches😛) - slept for 2 hours afterwards but so chuffed!!!
What instrument can you play Michael? 🤣
Only school concert I was in I played a mean triangle! I have had a guitar for decades but it's been idle since the late seventies!
But when I consider the alternative
Take care Michael. Nearly Autumn in UK. I used to love the golden leaves.
So true, this getting older is no joke, but still love having songs by Prince blasting out
How are you doing these days Michael? Are you home yet?Regards Dee.
I saw Genesis at Knebworth in 1978; Phil Collins had a backup drummer that day too.
Lonmayloon woz that Chester Thompson ??? Watched this duet with Phil about a million times ....AWESOME youtu.be/sA3rJXV4R4E
I am 76 and still dance (when no one is looking). I tell myself, age is just a number anyway. Happy belated Birthday. Keep on dancing. 🕺🕺🕺
Gin is popular with one or two members here! 😁😁😁
A thought I needed. Thank you
My late father in law said when he was 96 "It's hard to grow older" and I was about 50 back then. He grew 106 with no issues except sometimes a bit scratching his head because he forgot where he was putting his glasses. I'm now 70 and with 68 suffered a heart attack, still struggling with some recovery problems.
Hi Michael, was really good reading your post, after all the ones that seem to make you more concerned about your health,, yours was a breath of fresh air, and actually made me smile, thanks, seem to enjoy the same music too, yeah this getting older is no joke, but l did pack in a lot when l was younger so cannot complain, and memories last forever, take care regards lind111 x
Well I try and beat it by singing in a cover band and the Rolling Stones are part of the repertoire 😂
