Hi there,

please do not stop any medication without consulting your doctor. Aspirin is, usually, good for you with heart condition as it thins your blood thus reducing blood pressure.

Agree with Skid112 on the aspirin. As regards the Adcal if it is prescribed there is a reason (parathyroid?) you need to talk to your GP. If you are self prescribing you should still run it past your GP as some supplements can react with your heart drugs.

You should continue the aspirin and your gP shoud give you a tablet to protect your stomach. Aspirin helps to prevent clots building up inside the stents

Hi Vikinglady1950

The previous repliers are absolutely right-please don't stop taking any medications without discussing it with your GP first, as it may lead to serious problems.

Aspirin is vitally important for patients who have had stents, and whilst you are right, there is increased risk of bleeding from your stomach lining, you should be on another tablet to counteract that (usually Ranitidine, or a tablet ending in 'zole' such as Lansoprazole).

If you want to speak to a cardiac nurse to get more information on your medications please call us on 0300 330 3311-but we will not be able to tell you to stop taking a medication, this will have to be discussed with your GP.

Best of luck,

Ashleigh
