Any help would be great I am suffering from acid reflux have terrible pains in my chest and stomach when I take aspirin! I am on esomeprazole and ranitidine at night doesn’t help. I have been changed to clopidogrel from ticagrelor, can you come off aspirin if you are clopidogrel? Thanks

You should discuss it with your doctor.

I wouldn’t come off Aspirin but you can ask GP for one that’s for sensitive tummy. Gaviscon also helps.

To avoid reflux I'd cut down what you eat and drink before bedtime, and have two pillows. I don't know about the meds but you should see doctor. Always have asprin with or after food, it should say on the label from pharmacy.

In 1992 I was admitted to hospital urinating thick black blood

I had 2 visits to the theatre and was told that I had cancer of the bladder

Then the consultant urologist came to the ward sat on the bed and told me that the biopsy showed no trace of cancer

I told the consultant that I had been addicted for some years to Beecham Powders a combination of aspirin and caffeine and I thought that may have caused the bleeding

The consultant told me that I was talking nonsense and it was more likely to be due to my mother smoking when pregnant with me

However I gave up the Beechams and the bleeding stopped and has never returned

"Carcinoma" is still on my medical records and for some time (I think years) I had to go to outpatients for cystoscopies which was not a lot of fun

Eventually I could see no point in this and gave up going much to the annoyance of the consultant who "went all regimental" over it

So that is my contribution on the subject of aspirin which I believe is difficult to get in Spain without a prescription

Over there it is difficult enough to get paracetamol-you have to go to the Pharmacia and it costs the earth compared with 20p or so in Sainsbury's over here

Oh my goodness that is awful! Bless you for sharing that.

Hi Platypus6.

I don't think esomeprazole and ranitidine should be taken at the same time u are taking one or the other.

And I believe u already know this - the esomeprazole is half to one hour before food.

Best wishes.

Hello

You don’t say what dosage of the drug you are taking .

You might need to double the dose of Esomeprazole or change it to a different PPI .

I really sympathise with you it’s dreadful!
