Feeling anxious and depressed after your experiences is very natural and unsurprising, it must have been very frightening! I imagine that most of us on here can relate to your concerns.
Regarding this, I would suggest that you speak to your GP about your anxiety/ depression to see what they can prescribe. I am taking medication for my anxiety and it has made a world of difference in my quality of life.
Thanks for getting back to me ....I cannot take any more medication as i am sensitive to tons of medications and just going through a bad drug reaction in the hospital i am not willing to try any more meds for the time. But thanks for the reassurance that how i feel is normal as i thought once i got home all would be well and its not
Hello DanceQueen you have been in the wars haven’t you although I’ve not had your experiences I can relate to the fact that your worried and feeling vulnerable it’s not nice and it’s early days yet both your body and mind will take some adjusting better people on here than me to point you in the right direction but I would have thought the BHF nurses will be a big help in the meantime I just wanted to send my best wishes and a speedy recovery to you sending a virtual hug 🫂 x
When we go through any heart issues is perfectly normal to wonder what next. It’s not long since your heart attack and your body and your brain is still working out what as happened to you.
Maybe asking your GP for some help with feeling so down is one way to go.
When I was told I needed open heart surgery Aortic valve replaced and bypass, it was as if the ground had opened up under my feet the life I new flew out of the window and this new life flew in. The thing is in this new life I have medication to take diet to watch and exercise to do. Doctors appointments blood tests the list goes on.
You are very early on in this journey, but you will get there.
Sounds like you have already been through a lot, and now with heart problems, you must feel very vulnerable. It takes time, but I know you can get your focus back. In the meantime, try to find your happy place, using music, it really helps. It is a journey nobody ever wants to be on, you just have to find your new normal. Please use this forum as support. Maybe keep a record of pain levels and reason, might help cardiologist when you see them next. Take care. Moni
You are pretty much the same age as me and it is a tough, but they say "when the going get's tough the tough get going". First of all the mind can be helped, watching this guys videos helped me. youtube.com/watch?v=JiDaTi_...
Things will improve but it is a slow process, it has taken you 72 years to get where you are, but with good food (all unprocessed) and a positive mind you will improve.
Remember the good days and if you have a bad day, when it is over forget it, that is attitude and I try to help other people, whenever the opportunity arrises, that is very good for the mind. Bonne Chance...
Hi, do you have anyone to talk to? Sometimes just a friendly person who is prepared to listen can help overcome some of the worries. If you get stuck, drop me a message.. I'm always happy to chat and share my experiences. Thing to remember is you're never alone. A lot of us here live with angina daily. Keep smiling x
The way you feel is normal, we all feel like that at first. It just takes.a little time for your mind to get absorbed with other things rather than the health worry. It will happen . Treat yourself to something / anything / you deserve it
Sorry to hear about your heart attack and depression. I also had a heart attack last September and l am on a learning curve re angina diagnosis. I also suffer from chronic back pain... however, I don't suffer from depression...for which I am grateful. But do at times feel a bit of compassion for myself when in pain.
Hi Dance Queen, you must have enjoyed dancing at some point. I think the best way to beat depression and anxiety is to get out there and do something. Sounds easy, I know it isn't. But why not take some dance lessons or joing a dance club? Hopefully, you may meet people of a similar age as you (and me), most of us have some form of ailment as our bodies age before our brains, so you won't be out of place. Exercise of any sort will help you to feel better about yourself. I joined a gym and when I tell people about my bypass, I wear it with pride that I'm up and going for it again. They are all VERY encouraging a d most worry more than I do 🤣🤔. I read you can't take any more drugs, so exercise might be your only alternative.
