Chest niggles

I had my MI in November last year and am recovering well. However I still get random chest 'niggles' - a bit of discomfort under my left arm on the side of my chest - its not painful and does come and go - has anyone else suffered with the same thing? It does disappear completely eventually but can last on and off for a few days.

Hello and welcome! So how was it treated; medication/stents/bypass? Have you made lifestyle changes?

Medication only as artery too narrow & wonky so was a risk of tearing. I’ve made loads of changes to diet & exercise so feel better than I have in a long time

I would talk to your GP or cardiologist next week. Whilst you are doing all the right things the narrowed wonky artery may need rechecking and potentially need bypassing if despite everything it has deteriorated.

Hi Ellie I had my mi last December.i have extensive heart disease so they can only treat me medically. (I'm 54 previously a "fit" runner / cyclist).i continue to experience a fair degree of low level chest pain and "niggles " but as it tends to come on at rest the cardiologists describe this as non cardiac. I now try to ignore it ;it doesn't slow me up and really doesn't worry me now that I have adjusted to the condition.staying positive is the best advice I have had from the medics.👍

Hi Whitegm,

You may find this information useful.

Chest pain at rest can be due to Microvascular angina or Coronary artery spasms both cardiac causes of Chest pain.

Both MVA and CAS are poorly understood and recognised by many Cardiologist. I suggest that before you ignore your pain that you seek a second opinion from a Cardiologist who has some understanding of MVA and CAS.

Thanks for all your replies - I’ve been to the doctor previously about it & even had a week in hospital where they did a load of tests - nothing conclusive was found, in fact many things had improved considerably! The feelings I get are real but I still have no answers. I’m hoping coming off ticagrelor May help relieve a few issues or I guess it’s something I’ll just have to live with.

Thanks for the info milkfairy the consultant has been pretty clear with me ;disease is extensive and revascularisation not possible (ie no stents and no CABG.) So just drugs for me until I fall off my perch!(I try not to think about it tbh but thanks all the same )

I was referred to a Pain Management clinic to help me manage with my angina which can only be minimally managed by medication.

Perhaps ask your GP to refer you to or ask to be seen at a Refractory angina clinic.
