Just over four weeks since my aorta valve replacement surgery and already I can feel the benefits. I am walking up to 2 miles most days and it feels great. The tightness I could feel in my chest gets easier every day.
I know there is a long way to go before I can get back to normal, playing football and tracking. But I am really pleased how my recovery is going.
It just shows that being positive and staying positive is the way to go.
Good luck to anyone that is due for surgery and to Everyone recovering, we are all special people ❤

What great news I’m so pleased for you keep that positive attitude going it’s working wonders I’m going into hospital today operation on Wednesday I hope I’m saying the same in 4 weeks
Delighted for you, Alan and that you are getting the return on your investment of positivity - certainly seems to have worked for me too. At 4 months, post AVR, I'm still gaining strength and stamina and enjoying testing myself on the hills - walking and cycling - which had caused me so much discomfort and concern just months ago. It's been like turning the clock back in many respects.
Take it from me, normal should be with you soon, so enjoy!
Thanks Ian, today wasn't as good as yesterday, but I know it's only 4 weeks and it's going to take time. I'll take being like yourself after 4 months 😊 nice one.
Yes, there were days when I pushed too hard with the exercise regime and would have to award myself an "inactivity" day, but generally honoured my commitment to regular and escalating intensity/distance. Like we all say "listen to your body".
Hi Rugbymad, I wasn't told to stop drinking before the operation but I only had a couple anyway, tried to be responsible. Since my operation I've had no alcohol, I went to the pub for a while last Sunday and had 2 pints of lemonade with lime 😊
Brilliant to hear that you’re doing so well. 2 Miles is amazing after 4 weeks. But listen to your body when you need to rest. Keep up the good work and take care. Best wishes. Zena
