Hi all hope you are all having a great Friday and looking forward to the weekend. I had my bypass in March and have been doing really good up til now. I am currently on 75mg Aspirin, 3.75mg Bisoprolol, 1.25mg Ramipril and 20mg Atorvastatin. I only take the statin at night the rest in the morning. I woke up on Thursday morning feeling dizzy, a bit sick (although not sick and could eat normally), my head felt a bit mushy and achy. I had been doing a fair bit of gardening over the previous two days in the sunshine and admit that I probably hadn't drank enough water. Also we were camping out at our new house (that needs lots done to it), so was sleeping on an airbed, so not the best nights sleep. Can I put this down to just a change of environment, dehydration and lack of sleep, or could it be something else? Its a bit of a silly question as it may just be a virus, but its difficult at this stage not to put every twinge down to my bypass or meds. Just wondered if any one else had experienced something similar? I will see my GP if if continues past the weekend. Thanks in advance.

Out of sorts
Sorry to hear you’re poorly. It’s difficult knowing what it is. I always go to default position that it’s my heart- I tripped up the other day and thought oh heart related only to find my slipper was worn out and had caught on the edge of the rug!! It’s not a silly question as I think we always need to be vigilant. It does sound as though you may have been over doing things and especially dehydration and lack of sleep along with the heat can be quite debilitating. I have really struggled with this heat and have resorted to staying indoors with wet flannels and lots of iced drinks. Also a virus can have a negative impact on top of everything else. If you’re still unwell over the weekend don’t wait until Monday to see your GP. Seek advice before then. In the meantime rest and don’t do anything too much and certainly not in the heat. Take care and look after yourself. Zena x
The other night despite being my usual tired self I tossed and turned all night because it seemed airless a d sticky. Felt wrong all the next day and only managed a couple of very short walks.
It’s very common to worry about every twinge post cardiac surgery but overwhelmingly they are normal and nothing to worry about. I think it’ll be down to the heat and dehydration - the heat really can wipe you out. I’m intrigued by your drug regime as it almost the same as mine (I take more statin but otherwise it’s the same). I have alway taken Ramipril in the evening - that is how it was given out in hospital pre and post op. Purely out of interest have you always taken the bisoprolol and Ramipril together?
Hi Steve, yes always taken together. The bisoprolol was added when I was in hospital for the bypass. I’ll make a GP appointment and discuss the drugs. Also got a follow on to cardio rehab at the end of July, so can mention it then too. They wanted to up my statin to 80mg but did a cholesterol blood test first. My levels had dropped in half so they kept it at 20mg. Which I’m happy with.
Hi Wiltsgirl.
Thanks for the reply. As I said, it was just a point of interest. I'm on the 80mg Atorvastatin, fortunately without any obvious issues.
