Years ago when my shoulder was being operated on, I went into Cardiac Arrest. The surgeon thumped my chest and all was well. I knew nothing of this until afterwards. Never mentioned it on my travel insurance. Should I?

Cold call a company for a quote and see how they respond to this information. They may call for further reports etc. if its perceived to be a risk factor. You can then evaluate how honest you need to be!
Hi.
Having recently had the experience of making a claim I would recommend you make an appointment with your GP. Ask them, in the unlikely event of you making a claim, what would they declare on the medical claims certificate. Then you can be absolutely sure what to declare. As you know failure to declare means you are almost not insured.
Regards Ron.
If it’s contained in your notes then without question the answer is yes, you simply must declare. If you make a claim you have to allow the travel insurance access to all your notes so if it’s there (and it should be) you must declare it.
Hello Heather, I have never ever given this event any thought what so ever. After all it wasnt me that caused my heart to stop. It was the surgeon who pumped me full of extra pain killer. I know it's on my notes because I mentioned it to my GP on a rare visit and he told me he had no idea until he read my notes. A family member first told me about the risk I would face if I ever had a problem overseas. So I had better inform my travel insurance people. Thanks for making contact.
