Hi everyone. I’m 29. I’m on week 3 of myocarditis. Now I’m waiting for MRI. I have ECG changes, chest pain, tachycardia (105 bpm in rest, and 120-160 with minimal physical activity), my blood tests are ok. I feel very sad and hope to find information about recovery time.

I think it’s viral myocarditis

So hopefully this means it will only be short term.

It can be a bit quiet on thus forum from Friday and over the weekend.

So hopefully someone can give you some solid advice and awnsers on Monday.

Take care now, Jo xxx

Hi I was diagnosed with acute myocarditis and pericarditis in October I was hospitalised for just over 2 weeks and then several weeks in bed/chair at home. My recovery has been much slower than I imagined. I have continued to suffer from chest pain, fatigue and breathlessness. I am yet to be able to exercise apart from dog walking!

I've seen my GP regularly, had 2 further scans since leaving hospital and have a full assessment, inc scans and seeing consultant on 21st of this month.

I would encourage you to see your GP regularly and chat on here. The continued symptoms can cause anxiety and the not knowing/not having definitive answers can too!

Myocarditis is usually caused by a random virus - mine gave me large circular rashes on both arms which aren't quite gone yet but are now quite faded. Until your body is fully over the viral infection your heart may still be affected so it is important to be monitored. If the hospital isn;t monitoring you make sure your GP is.

In some people the infection is very flu like and a couple of weeks rest will be enough to make a full recovery others have is much more serverely and the recovery takes longer as the affect on the heart is more significant.

I so hope as you posted this 2 months ago that you are starting to feel much better.
