I was diagnosed with Myocarditis and pericarditis 8/9 weeks ago. I’ve been home resting since then (after a week in hosp).
Around week 4 and 5 I could really feel my energy coming back and was feeling very well. However from week 6, absolute exhaustion everyday.
My cardiologist took me off Bisoprolol as he thought that could be contributing to the fatigue. I’m off that about 5 days - but zero difference. I sleep heavily all night yet wake up exhausted.
For anyone who has gone through this or is currently going through it - how were/are you feeling? Did you have fatigue - did it improve?
any advice welcome!

Hi, I had an infection of my heart a few years ago. I was told to rest and I got better; although I do have a faulty heart valve so have to take it easy.Kind regards, Rabbit55.
Hi I was in hospitable for 8 weeks over summer with infective cardioencarditis. Following weeks in bed, as a stroke survivor I had to relearn walking. Feelings of exhaustion still and having pushed myself too hard ended up having a fall with resulting broken bones so please listento your body and take it easy.
I'm recovering from myocarditis. I'm on blood pressure lowering drugs, not because my BP is high but to relieve the heart so it can recover. That medication made me tired typically in the afternoon because my BP was low. My cardiologist said as long as I'm not dizzy, all OK. I'm 6 months on from last May when I went to hospital that day by ambulance. I'm making great progress. My ejection fraction has improved to just below normal. I've started rehab too. Stick with it and follow the doctors' advice.
I have learned from experience, myocarditis takes time to improve - sometimes longer than Dr's tell us.
For six months, I was advised against exercise that would cause my heart rate to rise above 100bpm, Not easy!
Rest is the best healer for you now. Give in to the tiredness, have plenty of early nights, lazy starts and naps, eat healthily and the days when you feel better will gradually increase.
I am now on second month dealing with Myocarditis ,just diagnosed in September... All that people had said is true... Mate you just need to rest !!! As much a possible.. Even emotional stress is harmful... Take it easy on everything you are doing.... I got backwards after one month, i felt i am at the beginning again... Sudden pain in my chest...
So you might get Ups & downs on this journey... So take it easy, rest a lot !!!
I too was diagnosed with myocarditis at the start of September. I felt like I was starting to feel better and suddenly the pain and chest tightness is effecting me again. I get so worried about it. I am taking colchicine. My cardiologist told me I should recover within 8 weeks which has not happened which makes me worry more
Heyy so gret to have someone to share experience.... Do you mind to go privet chat ?? My Cardiologist told me to not do Gym 6 months and from work off 2months But i feel as soon as i do something more heavy iam getting more pain...like just carrying the bag from grocery store. Since September It is better overall, easily breathing, less tiredness, but still need to be careful.. otherwise i feel pain in my chest if i over do thing.. How about you?? How old are you ??
My Doctors here are useless with providing any information, just put me on medication and gave me appointment in march 2025
That's unexpected ....so i got some good friend of mine who is a heart surgeon in Frankfurt will have a talk this weekend to ask everything i need to know.... I also heard about Peptide that can tremendously help with recovery.... Also doing research about this ... One is called TB-500 another BPC-157
Only private clinics in US can get from...
Is not yet proven by FDA, but people claimed its working great...
I would like people here to check it out for Peptides which i mentioned, this source of information is hard to get ,not much written about, and the Doctors will not tell you about. So if anyone can get any information from someone that has personal use it that would be great.
I was looking up the peptides you mentioned….very interesting.
I am currently taking some good quality multivitamins, extra iron, Omega 3, CoEnzyme Q10, Vit D and Boron all in the hope that they will support and help the heart to heal and repair.
From about week 6 after diagnosis (Myopericarditis), my energy levels took a nose dive. Every week I got worse and worse. To the point that last week I could not get out of bed. I could not stand for longer than 2 minutes and I could barely sit without feeling the need to lie down. I could barely get a breath of air - out of breath doing the slightest thing. I hyperventilated quite a few times.
Long story short - I went back to the hosp on Friday - got bloods done, ECG etc. The cardiologist said that all my blood markers were back to normal and that I should stop all meds - Ramipril, Plavix, colchicine, aspirin and eplerenone. I had stopped Bisprolol 2 weeks before. Also that morning I did not take the Ramipril because I was suspecting this might be affecting me.
Anyway...fast forward to today (Thursday) - I'm like a completely different person. I can stand and I can do things. I think the medication was working against me once I did not need them. I honestly thought I was slowly dying (I'm not exaggerating when I say this). I feel like my recovery can finally start.
I will have a follow up MRI in the next few weeks.
