Hi Jim bob, welcome to our little bit of the web. I think this is a question for your cardiologist. I’m surprised they didn’t tell you that in all the host of other things you should have been told on discharge. My gut reaction is yes, you’ll be good to go but I’m not qualified.

HI Jim,

First of all I am no expert and am not qualified in anyway!

I had an AVR and pre-emtive double by-pass in October 2015 and flew to Thailand in February 2016! With my consultant and surgeons blessing.

Only drawback was the shock of the cost of the travel insurance!

However, it was well worth it.

Seek advice and then crack on with life

I had a BOSTON 2lead fitted 8/11/17 and flew 27/12/17. You can go in the new scanners that you raise your arms in but not the metal gates. I had no problems in a very busy Manchester Airport and no probs on return in Lanzarote. Like someone else has said make sure you have correct travel insurance and declare all health issues that is the most painful part of travelling post insertion
