Rehab after pacemaker fitted?

I'm likely to have a pacemaker fitted in the next few months. Was wondering if I have to go through rehab again or can just crack on with what I've been doing (aside from not raising my arm over my head and lifting heavy stuff on that side)? Did anyone find they had to build yo fitness from scratch or was it OK to just continue as was? Thanks in advance.

I think cardiac rehab is a bit if a post code lottery. I had a pacemaker fitted last year and I was offered cardiac rehab but others in the same ward as me were not. It was possibly offered to me as I have other heart issues too.

I would take it easy and be at home for a few days. I had mine implanted 8/ 9 years ago and afterwards I had some mild tachycardia which took a while to settle and my meds were adjusted. It did settle and I was able to go back to a pretty normal life. You might be different but I wouldn’t feel pressured by work or others.

You may also get lots of jokes about being bionic and questions about the device which becomes a bit tedious.

Ha, hopefully some original jokes at least. Thanks. We're you put under or were you just sedated for the procedure?

I went under but think it still took another week or so to settle down after that. I remember thinking that anything that interferes with my heart takes a while to get better but everyone is different.

I started cardio rehab classes, but once I got told I was having an ICD implant I was kicked out of the class! They said they will welcome.me back about six weeks after the op happens! I was quite gutted at the time as just starting to feel I was making some progress back towards some kind of normal life.
