Hi stowl01

What Diuretic are you on ? I have Furosemide and Eplerenone which has a diuretic affect. I have had an increase in Diuretics when I had an increase in my Breathless symptoms

I find it helps with the waterworks the time of day I take the diuretics, only up once a night since I started taking one first thing, and the second one at lunchtime.

Hi Prada47

I am currently on Furosemide 40mg twice a day and up 2/3 times a night. I can see the reasoning in increasing the dose to ease the fluid build up in my legs and abdomen which is slowly getting worse inline with my cardiac problems. I have only had a quick look on the drug guide (BNF) but I can`t find any correlation between diuretics and reduction in heart palpitations.

Hi snap on the Furosemide I am now only on 2 x 20mg and the Eplerenone 2 x 25mg.

I see the Cardiologist on Tuesday so I expect some titration !!! and some information on my EF and my arteries. I think I am fortunate in not having any fluid build up maybe the Meds block it , before it builds !!!

Hi Steve

I’m shooting in the dark here but I think the thinking is that the diuretic will help you excrete excess water and salts and lower your blood pressure thus making your heart do less work. So it’s not a direct ‘This will stop your palpitations’ thing. But as I said, I’m guessing a bit here. Ask your GP for a full explanation next time you go into the surgery.
