On the way to 8 weeks post op check

โ€ข15 Replies

Good morning all. Iโ€™m on the train to London to see my surgeon for post op check and going back to work tomorrow if he gives me the green light ๐Ÿ˜Š. Iโ€™ve been continuing to walk lots and feel very well. The only problem I still have is getting the warfarin level high enough and taking ages to fall asleep as my heart noise is so loud!

Will walk from Victoria to St Barts which is nearly 3 miles. Hope I donโ€™t get too soaked!

Hope everyone is well and happy this Monday morning!

Claire. X

Good Luck ๐Ÿ˜‰Hope it all goes well ... โ™ฅ๏ธ

Hi Claire.

Really pleased you're doing so well. Had my check up last week and going back to work on 30th. Had x-ray and ecg at my check up and then saw doctor (not my surgeon) for less than 10 mins. Said everything was fine and discharged me from their care back to Lincoln hospital. Thought I was going down with the lurgy over the weekend and would need to go to docs today, sore throat and annoying dry cough, but sore throat only lasted a day and cough virtually gone now.

I'm lucky with my warfarin, has stayed pretty stable throughout at about 2.7. Glad I've got the home testing machines though, much more convenient.

Hope you're going to treat yourself to something nice whilst in London. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Take care.

Well done Claire you seem to be progressing well, I was at Bart's and it is an excellent hospital

Hopefully you have a raincoat and an umbrella its pouring down, good luck hope its all good news

Good luck xx

Sounds like you are doing really well and I am sure the surgeons will be delighted with your progress.

My AVR operation was performed at the end of May 2017 and I really only hear my valve as I go to sleep and when I wake up now. I did go through a period when I had had my beta blocker stopped and kept waiting for arrhythmias to occur but they did not happen and I have therefore been able to relax a bit.

Regarding warfarin it has taken from May until December for my INR to settle down and my Christmas present was no blood test for six weeks! Unfortunately I know that I will be having prophylactic antibiotics at the end of this month which will screw the numbers once more...

Hope you stay dry, here in Linlithgow (nr Edinburgh) , we have blue skies and sunshine but it is very chilly, snow is on the way....

Thanks all. Got soaked! All fine though and back to work tomorrow. Before the operation it took me an hour and a quarter to walk Victoria to Barts took just less than an hour now! So it must be the new valve allowing me to walk faster ๐Ÿ˜Š. Itโ€™s my 50th birthday on 28th Jan so Iโ€™m going to be celebrating in big style.

Fantastic news Claire, sounds like your fitness has much improved.

Hope the Warfarin levels settle for you and you get used to your ticking heart.

All the best for going back to work today and for your 50th celebrations.

Brilliant news Claire. Are you having a phased return to work? Don't overdo things. Take care. Margaret x

I hope all went well with your follow appointment.

You sound very positive, I'm sure that it will all go well. C

Hi all. Just back from work. Half days only at first so it was pretty easy, just spent the time deleting emails! The alarm going off at 6:15 was the worst bit!
