Ready for the Haka ??? hi

Oh my ! Long absence whilst fighting this virus....never known such a prolonged sore throat with associated symptoms. Sympathetic GP finally relented & prescribed antibiotics together with a steroid nasal spray & (hurrah!) pastilles to promote saliva. All fine until yesterday & onset of sore mouth & when I looked in the mirror, a black tongue !!. Whilst logically, I guess it's the penicillin made the tongue sore mixed with high dose of iron supplement. Least, I'm hoping that's all it is. Cos now it's Sunday... don't want to ring 111 as don't feel any worse other than the sore tongue. Will continue with penicillin & suspend use of iron supplement until I can speak to my GP practice tomorrow.

Just wanted to ask whether anyone had experienced the persistent sore throat as a result of taking Ramipril ?? I know it can give you a dry cough...

Meanwhile, I'm up for joining the All Blacks or available for Halloween parties !.....

I don't take this medication (amazingly) so can't help. I do send my best wishes though as you sound as if you are going through the mill health wise.

If you need to phone 111 then phone them, it isn't going to hurt and may put your mind at rest.

Take things nice and easy.

I was prescribed ramipril and developed an irritating dry cough. My doctor said it was a common side effect of ramipril and changed me on to losartan.

I can second Fredders

I was on Ramipril and developed the cough, I though the cough came from Heart Failure but a Cardio Chemist spotted it and said straight away are you on Ramipril. The cough went away about a week after stopping Ramipril. Now on Candesartan with no problem !!!
