Praulent Injections for Familial hyperlipidemia

Hi

I've been on statins for nearly 20yrs without much success. My consultant has recently put me on the bi monthly injections of Praulent 10mg, plus 2 other statins.

My 21 yr old daughter has a dominant gene from me and a recessive gene from her dad and consequently her lipid levels are sky high. She's also on the injections and statins but she also has to have genetic counselling and possibility of althertheresis, a form of dialysis where the ldl cholesterol is removed from the blood every 2 weeks. Hoping these injections work, although they do seem to make both me and my daughter very nauseous for several days.

Coincidently thus daughter was born on coronary care unit when I was in the unit with my heart and went in to labour 5 weeks early! Sorry for waffling but I would love to hear from anyone who's had experience of the Praulent Injections and it's brought their cholesterol levels down, mines currently 11.8, thanks x

Hi,

I was on Praluent from January to April of this year.

Unfortunately for me, I had severe side effects. Flu like symptoms, a face covered in cold sores and by the fourth injection severe chest pains & gastric issues which resulted in me having to attend A&E.

I am assured by my Consultant that I am just very unlucky and that side effects are rare. However, be aware that they can occur and don't delay in reporting if you get any. It took two months fir me to recover.
