I am now roughly 17stone over weight and killing myself with food.
I am on a winning by losing course started this week and just not getting it. No matter how bleak the out look I cannot get passed always feeling hungry in the evenings. I find to go from what I usually eat to 2000 calories is next to impossible.
I am so unhappy and in so much physical pain every day the outlook is not great

Oh I feel your pain and can empathise with your struggle. In the way that an alcoholic has to learn not to rely on his "fix" of alcohol, a person who has always relied on food for comfort and stress relief has to find new ways of coping.
You don't have to make sudden, drastic changes; you are not "on a diet" but you are learning new strategies for living. Start with small changes that you can manage easily. Swap sugary treats for healthier options like rice cakes and bananas. Swap hunks of cheese for a tub of cottage cheese. Swap a pile of chips for a jacket potato. Have a spritzer instead of a glass of wine. Buy some new recipe books such as "The Hairy Dieters" and any others that catch your eye. Experiment with cooking using a slow-cooker or steamer rather than a frying pan.
Lots of little changes will make a big difference and you will start to feel pleased with yourself, to like yourself again. Then it all becomes so much more manageable; you might get a "myfitnesspal" app and log your calories; you might borrow a dog and go for walks, you might come on here and chat to the rest of us who are with you in this struggle. Good luck - you can do it!
Thanks yes food is very like my fix as I am a over ten years away from my last drink, I know I have an addictive personality. I feel though this course and the possibility of surgery is a last chance as I have so many health problems and very limited mobility if I do not try with my family history of heart disease I am not sure I will have many more chances.
I felt that way when I started so far I’ve lost 180 I have only 70 more to go. You have to do it in small steps. One minute at a time change one thing today start journal your foods and what your feeling. We all feel. Than pick out something you can change for yourself out of eat meal. Park your can a little ways. Or just walkout side look around you each day is a new one. Your here alive can do anything and be anything. Do it for you. You are important to us, and to you the most. Tomorrow will come one thing for your self will change your world.
thanks yes I am looking at for now trying to improve my eating habits as can not be just about quick fix has to be an attitude change. I am very limited in exercise as use a wheelchair 90 % of the time
They have many dvds out there for chair and wheel chairs on Amazon and my be at your library. Learn to do a craft I’m doing baby blankets and hats. Most hospitals will take them from new born to cancer patients. Also homeless shelter too. You can bless some one.
Doing crafts will take you mind off of food. I just cooked my squash in the crockpot it makes it a lot easier. I washed the butternut squash and just put it in the crockpot for 3 hrs onlow no peeling or cutting, or poking holes. Just put in. When done cut it in half and takeout the seed junk and than take a out squash stuff throw the skin out. I put some diet sugar on it with pumpkin spice or nutmeg. Or cinnamon you could mix butter but I don’t. I hope you have a healthy day.
You can take baby steps toward your goal of 2000 cal a day. I have the same problem of always feeling hungry. I am trying to slowly eat less and trust that my stomach will adjust. I know it won't happen over night. But cutting back bit by bit is better than not trying. Right?
